So, I pressed cancel the other day ... only to be reminded that I subscribed for three months. Three months! I'm a fool and a half at no mistake.

I've given up on the assassin. Don't like the way stealth is implemented in this game and it simply can't cope with the large groups of mobs that one has to fight when xp'ing. Unless you have two feated skills available you'll be running back from the rez spot and it gets old the 10th time into one's playtime. I understand they get much better in the 60's but that's 20 levels away and NO THANKS :p

The Tempest has been turned from a very strong solo class into a gimp. With single targets it is fine, just like the assassin, but against multiple mobs you're dead. The AoE damage got restricted to three targets unless you feat the skill, but the real problem is active blocking ... when blocking attacks you heal and attack for 50% of the normal value. Not enough to kill the mobs quickly enough.

So, are there any classes/specs out there that actually work? As I am committed to playing now for an extra few months I'd like to level a character that actually works right and isn't about to get hit by the nerf bat.

Can anyone recommend something for me to try? I'm looking at Dark Templar but the one I grouped with last night did nothing but moan that he's a gimp until level 60, which is not what I'm looking for.

Thanks in advance. Oh and keep your "ToS were overpowered" comments to yourself, I wanted to play the AoE class that it was promised to be ... and now it utterly sucks.

my dt is 70, but i never felt i had any problem against 3-4 mobs 4-5lvl higher.
ok thats melee mobs, cause caster mobs can be a problem.
if you pick the right spec you wont even need to style, 10 counters of aoe leach health , omni procs, heal proc all up and mobs die around you.
ofc dt cant solo epic mobs...

but after a while all these get boring...

Guess we'll have to wait for the next patch to see which class will be the best for people to jump on the bandwagon.

Assassin -> ToS -> ?

FYI my tempest was rolled in pre-release, but I levelled the assassin first because the tempest was stuck in a bugged instance which took a week of appeals to get out of. Had no idea of which classes were strong, so went with the one that appealed most.

And now it is as gimpy as the assassin.

MMOG's that introduce nerfs just to stop people from levelling fast and finding there are no content appear to be on the rise. Had exactly the same experience in City of Heroes...

i am very happy with my demonologist. if you spec havoc (lightening) for leveling you get a lot of cc as you level and also decent damage (although with big variance). from about lvl76/7 i could solo pull at deathmasters (with liberal use of pots admittedly) which made those lvls go extremely fast.

in general i found my demo to be easy as hell to level and at level 80 since respeccing to conflag (fire) i find myself to have great dps and good utility in pvp (a great root, stun, pbae root amongst other things). so yeah, demo is good in short.

Oh noes! Class can't solo in a multiplayer game :D

Had to...

Anyway, every class works. Just maybe not as "perfectly" as one would want, but then again, if there was one uber class...why play others.

Yes yes and i wanted to AOE with my necro too.

But look on the brightside you still out dps me single target and AOE wise.

I gave up on my Necro this weekend it was only 35 but the recent changes really spoiled MY enjoyment of the class I do not want to fight about if they are good or bad but nerfing the AOE spoiled my fun. I started a guardian and so far so good just nice simple smashing stuff I can't see how they are going to ruin it so i would say they are in good shape :)

Assasin is great for solo imo, at lvl 38 i could take 2-4 mobs and come out alive with a bit of luck, but honestly what do u want? a machine that can win vs 10-20 mobs ur lvl with no downtime? in daoc i was glad if i won vs a single orange con with my icke ranger.

From what ive seen id say:
PoM v good
ToS v good(lol cant kill more then 3 mobs with ur AoE get a grip)
Demo good
Barb good
Assasin Good
DT good
Guard good but not my cup of tea
Conq very good in grps good solo
necro dunno havent tried one and i cant play with 8 pets:S
BS seems like a good class havent tried one only grped with one and a bit squishy but has heals and ok dps
HoX v good solo altho it got a small nerf last patch.

I play my assasin 100% solo and do some quest run around and pvp in between, there is no rush to 80 after all, play the same on my barb which has gotten more and more of my playtime now that ive mastered the swaping between 2 h and DW a bit better:)

On the "killing ability of a DT" in PVE, it's almost like so:

Against your own level: If the mob count at any given time stays under 4, you can take 'em on forever. Above 4, around 5 or 6 own levels, you need a rest after :D

Against upper level(normals note): One level above you can take on three. Two levels above three with luck, two easy still. Three levels above, as in 3x28 on 25, you'll struggle with two but get it done with pots atleast.

If anyone doesn't think that's "enough" killing power...well...

I play a bearshaman and I consider it a very well rounded class. Funcom seems to agree, because there was no single line about bearshamans in all of the patch notes so far.

Well, there was one line about combo cosmetics, but they fukked up, the combo described was a barbarian combo. ;P

And there was one stealthnerf to untamed regen, however I consider that a fix, because UR was just too good.

All in all it get my seal of approval, whatever that might mean to you. ^^

omg... is this all you have played?

a small example is the +5 lvls higher quest in xxxx ( already forgot name) approach in the frozen river mid 60s.
10 guards altogether +4-5lvls higher pop, i kill'em all.
3 archers pop, all dead
another 10 guards, dead
3 archers, again dead
finally boss, 5-6 lvl higher easy kill...
no down time just a couple of pots
its not as fast as casters or pom appear to kill in some vids, but dt is so easy mode imo

I think I would enjoy playing my ranger, if ever I could find the time.
I can drop at least one mob before it gets to me(pin down), snare a second while I switch to and take out the third. This would be about 2/3 lvls above and without second wind or any pots.
and I havent seen much patching tbh.

Most classes seem decent enough to do PvP with. It is when you get to 80 you will notice some classes are abit harder to master then others.

A typical scenario is that often the classes that have the most hp and last the longest do very low DPS and not enough burst dmg to kill anyone, then again they don't go down either - so status quo.

What I noticed the last few days of pvp is that barbarians in duos are OP'd beyond sense =)... You get stunlocked for 10 seconds then knocked down - rinse repeat - mad DPS aswell.

Made a barbarian myself, prolly take my time exping it, not that mad about PvEing ~

i can't powerlevel solo, unless you imply that aoc is broken, cause i don't cheat.

you say you been busy, yet you have gained awards for posting nothing than crap, posts without any sense or value to any discussion.
there is no post from you, i can find any line of real arguments, unlike sneakers for example.

you have mastered the art of talking to much without telling anything.
is there any content award in fh?

it turns out, you busted many @@ about things you haven't even checked yourself.

partyanimal what's your problem?

I'm commenting on the thread, discussing it, and you think it's ok to start insulting me or to comment on MY playstyle or what i've found out to be my opinion on things?

Grow up.

And by the by, there's a difference in posting over time and spamming...i've been here a while...

Actually:

I post that DT is good and a solo machine really.
You post "omg you noob!"
I then post, so you agree that DT is good.
And you answer with "you suck and post alot!"

Mental case.

To the yet not nerfed Barb?

Pattern? :p

ToS can't handle multiple mobs with AE now, the active blocking nerf has hit it very hard. It's also not much fun to play a healer in a group when you can't block the mobs attacking you ... as you might have noticed taunt doesn't work particularly well.

I'm sure they'll readjust the priest classes upward at somestage, whether or not it is before Warhammer is another matter.

I am playing a Dark Templar now, at least I would be if I wasn't having to spend the evening working... Seems like a fun class but I'm pretty sure all the classes are going to get nerfed. It's much cheaper than adding new content after all.

You sound like a happy customer.

Could a visit to the cancel account doctor be in order?

I too have made multiple characters in the last few days but you know what?

Tortage is the most boring new player zone ever created in an MMOPRG, the zone is irritating from start to finish the WHOLE single player quest line is a joke and quite frankly should be removed from the game or make it so your friends can join you the quest.

But wait if you want semi decent gear that will last you until your 40-50's in this game because the item drops for anything but a heavy armour class completely suck balls then you have little choice.

Hit the cancel button today i know some of you will probably be glad but surely i am not the only one on this forum that thinks this game is just plain terrible?

I really do think at the rate funcom are going the game will be another Vanguard within a 1-2 years.

You only have to look at the forums to see that the general customer base for this game isn't enjoying the game, sure you can come up with the old 'people who are enjoying the game are playing it' line but it really doesn't wash anymore.

I have multiple characters in the big guilds on my server and it is really shocking to see the sheer amount of people who last logged on up to 8-12 days ago to me this tells me players are maybe leaving.

People can say what they want about WoW but at the end of the day this is what an MMORPG at released will be measured against time and time again people these days want an MMORPG with things such as:

1. A pvp system with a meaning from the start not just a kill/died number with nothing to work towards

2. A crafting system fully implemented for use at release not just shoved in and worked on from there.

3. A good chat system/interface with ability to use user made stuff.

4. Decent gear that is exciting to find at release and last up until a content patch/expansion

For me at least these 4 things are what make an MMORPG experience enjoyable and at this present time AOC only at best has number 3 i will not go into detail about each of the 4 things as anyone who has played AOC knows those are what the game lacks big time.

Long post i know probably pointless but i needed to vent about a game that looked so promising yet for me failed in so many ways now that it has released.

AMEN!!!!

Why do ppl who dislike something HAVE to shove it down the throught of others?? Does it make u feel good to wajn and moan all day long on the internet? why not write a long and warm letter to funcom with suggestions on improvments in a nice friendy way? oh noes! u cant be nice and informative much better to just bla bla bla bla away about a game no1 forces u to play.

If u cancel do it, no need to make posts about it, if u dislike the game, dont play it simple as that.
