Any 56k'ers

Lo guys,

I have just moved house and I can't get adsl in my area, I can't afford ISDN just yet so I woundered what BF1942 is like on a good hardware 56 modem.

Its really bad I know, dunno how i'm gonna cope

I dont know how you will cope! Not many people Survive the Stress of losing their trusted ADSL to play on a 56k! Its like hell i bet!

Or will it be you do Missions on diff Maps

SP is the same, the SP demo was out first, you just play with bots, like in Q3 or UT.

I play on 56k, and do OK... I just try and stay out of offensive battles.
I usually play as an engineer and mine roads, set up explosion packs in nice places and ride on the back of Summos tank, repairing it as he drives along.

AA guns seem to work OK over 56k, as do planes... as long as you don't lag in mid-air and spirial into the sea, getting a decent connection back just in time to bail out about 2 miles off the coast, facing either a long swim or a suicide.

I'm "FluffyKitten", to anyone who's seen me about... sorry to any teammates who've driven jeeps full speed into my mine/exp-pack ambushes.

I would describe BF1942 on 56k as worse than or equal to 'Very Frustrating.'

I've given up on trying to kill anyone with guns and just fly planes instead. Even that is becoming difficult, what with all the fog haxing AA gunners who shoot you down from 1/2 mile away.

I doubt I'll bother buying the game...

Nothing to do with haxxoring, when you position the carrier at the right distance from the airfield you see them taking off ...

Apparently the single player (according to this months PCZ) is a pile of shite, looks nice, but the AI is wank.

MP is on the cover disk though.

Im gonna give MP a shot tnite on my 56k0r, I think it'll struggle cos I only connect at 40kbps anyway.

I use it, but i cant help noticing that it has a somewhat Built In Wallhack.. if you look at the "patches" you can see whos on the other side...

Im thinking cheaters will find a way to expose it fully

I find Planes easy to spot, I tend to rely on my headphones to tell me where they're coming from, a glance on the map to see if they're friendly or now, then BLAMMO

I was happily driving along, then someone dived into the road in front of me like a child on a road safety video, I tried to swerve, but "Warning ! Connection Problems Detected !" stopped me, and I carried on rolling forwards over the top of someone.

Thank god the non-FF server is back again.

I'm sure I'd be much better if I didn't have BT upping my reaction times to those of a drunk tortoise.

I have single line ISDN, seeing as ADSL and Cable and just about everything else isn't available here and never goddamn will be, and for small games it's playable. Anything larger than 8 or 12 people or something and it gradually gets bad. I can be reported as having a ping of 80ish and yet people will be jerking around all over, completely unhittable. Of course it gets worse the more people there are. Uhm.
Anyhow get it anyway; it's a good game. I'll be getting it if only to play over LANs.

Yes I've heard people signing up for ADSL with one ISP and failing, then passing with a different ISP.
