The money whine is a sound one and in the absence of ANYTHING to the contrary its the best we have.

Granted the money idea is speculation, but no more clueless than claiming capping buffs to avoid grapple is not cheating somebody said that once.

You compare a problem occuring due to many buffs/effects from other players to a 3d party program altering/cracking the datastream, you sir are very very clever!!

What some people, and GOA/Mythic have to realise, is that cheaters aren't the only ones paying their subs. The past few months things have been getting much worse imo with regard to the number of suspected radar groups roaming the frontiers. The news of these bans and the new checks GOA/Mythic are using is welcome, but I'm afraid that a 7 day ban just doesn't cut it with me - especially because these people are never named and shamed and so after their "7 day holiday" they can just come back and continue as normal with nobody any wiser that they've been cheating all this time.

If I don't start seeing some more serious punishments given out, and if these checks don't make it over to Europe in the next few months (or with NF at the latest), then I'm going to have to give serious consideration as to whether I want to renew my account or not. At the minute, GOA/Mythic are trying to have their cake and eat it, and if they're not careful, its gonna start going moldy real fast and they'll be left with servers full of ex-radar users because all the honest players will have gotten fed up, and switched to EQ2/WoW.

Why wouldnt they loose money from banning 1000 subs? ofc they would, a few might reroll and many new would come, but they would still loose the majority of the 1000 subs banned... It looks to me like they are letting ppl know they can see it, to stop them. And that way keep the excheaters subs and get the new once for beeing "cheatfree"...

Anyways this wont get sorted untill Mythic gives a press release wich explaions it, this is all speculations...

Bottom line is all that got caught would have no reason to come back, they cant play fair and would be unable to acheive kill after kill after kill as they do with radar.

Maybe somebody with balls that dont give a toss would like to tell us why people use radar in daoc??

Yep Flim, and thats good But I still can't see how its fair that someone has reached, lets say RR10 on the strength of his group using radar for the past year, and then after being caught, his only punishment is a 1 day, or 7 day ban. He can then uninstall his radar program, tell everyone how much he enjoyed his holiday in Greece, and then still have a big advantage over honest players due to his falsely obtained high RR :/

Whats more, the rest of the community never knows who the cheaters were, they're just left guessing which will no doubt lead to honest players being suspected and accused.

So, you are saying unless I'm mistaken, that if the game allows you do to do something then its 100% ok?? Perhaps I am being overly harsh on people that cheat using in game "features" to those that cheat using 3rd party programs..

Let me pose some ideas for thought, untargettable players/pets, jumping into another realm, getting to places you should not get to eg: DF steps. The game allows you to do all these like having enough buffs to avoid grapple.

You make it sound like an accident that people are getting buffs they do not gain benefit from, the result is the same, its an exploit just like being able to see where players/groups are that the game mechanics/physics do not naturally allow.

They both have the same outcome, they adversly effect the natural course of the game.

Someone ever told you the differance between going inside other realms, standing in zws etc and a unavoidable feature due to a specline i used 49 levels in? One of em are you get a ban for since its an exploit, one dont. You know why? Because i cant avoid getting 28 effects if i use my SPECLINE, retarded idiot. DPS debuff and grapplespam is 10 times the exploit in that case since you can avoid it.

I imagine that at least some of the people start using radar "because everyone else is"...

the point of someone radaring their way to RR10 is a good one - it does suck that they get that advantage. That said if they've been relying on radar that long they'll probably suck majorly when they have to play the real game and either quit, or go back to radaring, get caught and banned.
