Lo peeps

I wonder how many people like me have to try to juggle a work life / after work life and playing DAOC life?

Up until recently I had a girlfriend, so I had to juggle that too, but now it's mainly trying to get a few goes on DAOC in between beer time and sleeping.

Unfortunately sleeping is losing out big style :) I reckon this game is the reason for many many sick days and people oversleeping all over europe and the US, and lots of poor excuses given to your boss the next day.

Any why can't my boss understand that I fell asleep at my desk because I was on a "relic raid" last night? or that I was defending my Realm AMG Wall in Odin's? :)

Anyway, I just wanted to know how these people juggle their time - and whether they are students or unfortunately unemployed, or whether they just share accounts or something.... :)

Any of you college/university students ever thought about graduating on this subject?

The loss economy's worldwide suffer due to online gaming:

- calling in sick at work
- playing at work
- if not playing, browsing forums at work
- printing game manuals etc at work
- concentration loss due to not enough sleep
- concentration loss due to already being online 'in your head'
- students appearing on the working market years later due to
missed years at university (played instead of studying boy?)

Now I aint a mathematician nor a good calculator but i am pretty sure we are talking about millions and millions of dollars ...

P.S. typing this at work while printing a new infiltrator guide ;)

Actually I'm a pimp and don't have to work...

The annoying part is when a girl nibbles my ear without warning while making squirrel sounds and it makes me fumble in my quickbars and I loose to Xanatea group and I get terribly annoyed and I HAVE to beat her blue with a coat hanger.

Life is hard :/

I believe it actually already is a popular field of study. Especially the gaming community in Korea is an interesting phenomenon. Think gaming addiction is cause for more dropouts over there than anywhere in the world.

hi xana - just to re-iterate that I'm not having a dig at anyone, I'm just fascinated as to how people juggle this fine game and their lives, and Eleasias - I think I might just have to enrol in a master's degree :)

I basically just picked the top 20 as on http://www.duskwave.com/daoc/
this morning.

I want to be a student again! :) Unfortunately I have a mortgage, but I've got some nice holiday days coming up in the next month, and I'm pretty damn sure I'll be levelling up some of my alts on those holiday days instead of painting the hallway :)

My theory is westerns powers (especially USA with the help of a secretly CIA founded Richard Gariott) devised MMORPG as a way to fight the threat upcoming eastern economies, with their tireless workers and small social contestation, were beginning to be for our old societies of slackers.

:)

I heard a rumour that some people have more than one person playing their account therefore not having to be on all the time themselves and still racking up lots of RP's

All the people who spread this rumour were dragged out into the street and Shot!

Hmm, I'm a student and have fk all free time. Three 9-5s (lab/research), lectures, and then meeting with group, reading round the past 3 years of physics I've forgotten :\

Ok in your first/second year though, especially if you do an arts degree..

I work full time, have to be at work for 7:30 am in a morning yet im still up till around 2 am each night playing DAoC so I find myself working in zombie mode lol. Getting by on 5 hours of sleep each night aint healthy believe me. Im trying to cut back and log out around midnight now, but it aint easy, the game is way to addictive.

It sends a shudder down my spine when I think about how much time some peeps plough into Daoc...

I am pretty lucky, I get more time than most with my job.. I frequently get 3-4 days off work and usually spend a couple of those days vegetating in my flat playing daoc for 10 hours a day... After doing this for a couple of days, I get tired of the game and then try to take a break from it for a few days and do RL stuff....

There are people that have probably got /played > 100... My /played is over 40 now and I have spent way to much of my time playing... to the point that my friends think im becoming reclusive....

I still think though all those peeps in the top 20 desearve a lot of credit though for their dedication and determination...

But I also believe that ne1 with over 1 mill RP, is addicated to this game and should perhaps think about where they are heading in life, and what they want out of life...
