I think most of us now have read about the NT compatibility fix... theres also quite a few other things that help stopping graphical slowdown or generally help ToA run a little smoother - like the AGP aperture size and swap file size etc.
All these may help in some ways.
But I thought I would comment about my fix... and yes I was stupid not to notice earlier

I have 2 pc's fairly similar specs - main differnces are only 1800 v 2500 CPU and also one GF4200 has 128mb other has 64mb.
I tried all fixes to no affect on the slightly slower pc and would get ABSOLUTELY crazy lag when looking at the reed bed that is seen in the ML1 barrier encounter. If I faced away from it I could move ok.... as soon as I turned towards it... it would drop to about 1-2 frames a second at best.
So last thing I check... (isnt it always the last thing! ) was my driver versions. The pc that was ok was on 43.51's whereas the pc with the problems was on 45.23's. So I've uninstalled those and installed 43.51's on it and its helped alot.... yeah its still slightly slower due to lower cpu etc.... but I can actually look at the reed bed on the barrier encounter now without its getting unplayable. God knows what differnece there is in the drivers but there must be one....
I know this probably wont help many poeple.... but if even a few are having the same issues as me I hope it helps you......
