Annoying Keyboard Input

I know this is bloody simple to solve, I managed to fix it for my parents on their laptop, but I can't for the life of me remember how to do it again on my own laptop.

When typing ' or " i have to press a key to appear. If i press the ' key, and then a it becomes á. Really puts you off your flow when trying to write essays.

Anyone have any idea how to switch it off?

Would be much appreciated.

Using Vista btw.

it's your language/locale settings mate. I have it on my Vista cos I told it it lived in the Netherlands.

Cheers teedles! Fixed by a quick change of keyboard to US and it works fine
