england has someone that lost a reality show representing them. today is another sad day.
i was really hoping that we'd have that crazy romanian woman represent us. her song was just what eurovision is about. camp poppy shit that doesn't make sense.
ireland have a puppet representing them...

I liked the Finnish entry considering it is Eurovision, if I cared at all about it at all they would have my vote.

Aye, they were and we were just discussing that:

Is probably what people will say, but, what the heck, this is a metal country and thoe are two very deifferent bands. Both a bit of "non-serious" metal, and as such, ones who can make it in the eurovision.

And was one guy who sang in a language that around 99% cant even say where its from.

ROFL @ the finnish song! :D

But then... who gives a flying f*ck about the Eurovision these days? Not like it has been anything to write home about in the past, but these days, it´s degenerated more and more into a "oh look, we got something unusual, thehehe!".

And what do england send?
Suprisingly, NOT a bunch of freh faced teens with no talent.
Were sending in... a bald black guy who sings R&B...

Why can't we just send in Status Quo or Iron Maiden?

I think it's sad that the Scandinavian countries who are most known in the music world for their metal, sends shitty pop bands instead.

If we would send one of the many metal bands, we'd win every single year due to the sheer popularity of the music with the people. Sadly, the people who "matter" in the music industry doesn't consider metal music, which in itself is quite hilarious considering that the biggest crowd attractors in Sweden last year were Iron Maiden and Metallica, with the shitty pop bands not even drawing half of either of those bands crowd.

Which is Ironic as we're supposed to have one of the best music industries in Europe...

But yeah, i'm embaressed to even watch the eurovision anymore. I agree with Terry Wogan (The poor bugger who'se been the british commentator for decades), its a wonder we ever bother competing anymore, our entries are pathetic.

One of these days, we'll send in the Punks, and we'll either win, or wreck the eurovision.

If you think thats bad then be glad that you werent there to see the finals.

There was not a single band i wouldnt send to Siberia just for being so goddamn bad. Which, like has been said before, is a bit odd since there are so many good bands in Finland and the Eurovision is a good stepping stone.

...But its still better than UK :m00:

If they let more countries in, like Asia / U.S (not canada) and such. Would be much more entertaining (i hope)

The reason the contestants from most countries are so pathethic and out of style music that would only have been a hit 20 years ago is that often the people in charge of sorting the contestants before any of them hit television is old.

Sorry to say it, but from what's been seen over the last years, it seems Finland is one of the few European countries where those in charge of pre-selection actually are open minded. Watching the Danish version always shows 10-20 (whatever number they start up with) of which you can't really pick 2 apart.
Those defending it will go "NOT TRUE! THERE IS ROCK, POP, Solo singers, groups" okay, but they are all pop, sorry, but they are. All rock is pop-rock, and if there has been a single metal or none pop-rock rock contestant in the danish version over the last 5 years, I missed it.

The problem with Eurovision is that, any serious, self respecting band with any shread of integrity left wouldn't dream of entering a contest that's been widely appreciated as much as a dog pissing all over you when you wake up and noticing the dog is your wife that you've never met.

This leaves the only people left to enter the competition as A: Moneygrabbing and almost wash-out "bands" with their final hopes and dreams crushed by big sticks B: Total and utter nutcases who think sucking on a dicksicle is great fun and C: People who don't take themselves too seriously to start with. The C group of this usually wins mind you.(read Lordi)

Don't get me wrong, the older generation loves the competition, good for them, and it's great fun to watch year after year, while finnish so called "bands" get f*cked up the a** when even the crappiest of competitions gives them no points. Nothing like "0 points" to hammer down the final nail of your already one-foot-in-the-grave coffin.

BUT, as said, the older peeps like it and even some people of the younger audience love it when there's any good bands on there(Read Lordi), but mostly i'd say it would be more entertaining to stick your willywonka in a blender during a blackout and bet to your friends when the power comes back on.
