Frankly, regardless of if the game calls you a retard for doing poorly or not, the people offended by this need to stop expecting to be congratulated and encouraged by this moronic nanny state.

In the good old days you were congratulated on a job well done, and if you did something wrong you knew about it - you were cained, called a muppet/retard/buggermonkey/insertinsult of choice, and this made you want to change.

These day's you have to be congratulated on everything. Why on gods earth do we even bother - are we few Internet Forumites the last remaining bunch of intelligent people on the planet?
If you're shite as something, you get told. If someone thinks you're a retard on the DAOC forums, you get told. A flamewar might start, but your told.
At no point, ever, do you get encouragement from your failures. No "You didn't do quite so well there but perhaps you'll do better in your next post!"

If you're offended by a game telling you that you're a retard - you're a retard. Why are we all so set on punishing people for telling the truth?

Ok kryt but you're missing a fairly important point. It's being pulled by the manufacturer - not THE GOVERNMENT OMGZ CONSPIRISEE TBH.

Tbh - being called spastic by a computer game is quite offensive (although tbh if I was playing it and it called me a spastic I'd probably fall about laughing like one). However, once they found out about it they pulled it and will presumably rectify it. They're a big company, they're not trying to make a massive political statement, they're simply trying to sell computer games. As a result they've done the correct thing and it's all purely from a business perspective. The word spastic does offend some people. it's not a big deal to have it changed, it's not a nanny state issue.

Honestly, if you look for things to get angry with you're bound to find them. Chill the fuck out!

Heh, yeah the manufacturer pulled it but only after a complaint.
I still stand by comments that too many people are happy to have their hands held by these metaphorical nannies.
