Anarchy Online- who is still playing it ?

Just started playing it over christmas, (waited for all the bugs and servers to be sorted). Ive never played a game like it and Im actually really enjoying it.

They currently have a 7 day free trial and for those with cable or adsl the game can be downloaded.

Id appreciate any comments from those who still play it before my trial is up. ( as opposed to those who played it in early stages when it was bugged to f00k)

I started playing in Septemer and finished end of October. Just wasn't enjoying it. When you get to lvl 70 the missions are rediculously hard and it takes all the fun out of the game. This was being a Nano Tech.

Its pretty much clear that it was crap then from what Ive read. Cant see what the problems are now though, some minor graphical glitches occasionally but thats it.

No runs 100x better than it did at launch.

Did they make the game fun?

No its still shit. Its just no fun 70+ as "?" states

No offence was intended =p (guess i worded it wrong)

I think the main reasons people dislike AO (at higher lvls) are:

A) they made it hard to solo
B) Its hard to get cash/items on your own
C) No unique items/ dungeons(well ok they're adding that now )

Anyway if your the type of person that will play it for 2-3 hours a day then i'd say get it. It'll take you a while to get to 60+ anway.. and when you do reach it things might be better..

Thanks for the input. Ill prolly only play it a few hours a week though. Dont have too much time for gaming these days, I just want a new type of game that I can focus on and isnt quite as mindless as the all the fps I usually play.

I play it on and off, i resubbed recently (after quitting to play doac, which was crap) and its ok for occasional play. It not a 24/7 job like everquest, and suits the casual player, i log on once or twice a week.

The high level game is lacking alot tho, but i guess that aint an issue yet. There's still (annoying) bugs and lots of PvE and PvP balance issues but as far as mmogs go i much prefer it to the others about, the graphics are nice, and i much prefer the scifi setting to your usual cliched fantasy mmog full of roleplaying twats.

I thought CDs were 650MB/74 Minutes by default, with 80 minutes/700MB cds too :/

Aye like most MMOPRGs atm, cos the vast majority of people playing it are not the slightest bit interested in role play at all. This is because they power-level at every opportunity and that becomes what the game is all about after a short while, making it impossible for other players to play the game properly.

ive always found that the player run servers for these sort of games are best. Yes you dont have to pay, but the people playing on there WANT to roleplay and so you get a better, albeit smaller community, which imo is good.

oh and does anyone play EverQuest? i just got a free version of it with a 14 day trial on this months PC Zone mag...and all i can say is dull, dull, dull, dull...if i just want to fight monsters in groups, i'll just carry on playing Diablo2 thanks very much. At least MMORPG's such as UO (still the best ) have other professions, which make the gaming experience a hell of a lot better
