Aye this is rather pointless spam but i would appreciate it if you didn't spam it. After a rather unsuccessful days rvr with a mixed group of BO and Mael, that never seemed to click, logged on my realm rank 1l9 spiritmaster in his moderna cloth and had a run up to Odins. Knew that hibs had been up there all night and saw a very other likely randomers in the area.
As i arrived i saw a friend of mine who hasn't played much and we decided to duo, she being a healer me a pbaoer. There was as expected an assortment of other mids about, none of the top guilds/players though and we went to Bled. Hibs were outside so we started a stand off, they backed us down the hill (the trebuchet added weight to their arguement) and were able to defend their postions with shrooms. We seemed to be fighting a loosing battle when 2 hibs came too close and were mercilessly put down by the mids, seemed to be about 12 mids and about the same number of hibs give or take a few.
Somewhat against my nature (my main is a healer) i saw this as an oppurtunity and ran into the pack of hibs, very much to their suprise and pbaoe'd like it was going out of fashion (it better not). With a new found confidence the mids witha good number of bolters/dders surged up sending the hibs back to Bled and at one point almost wiping them all, neverless they rallied their defence and the mids were never able to really keep them at bay and work on the doors. Eventually with shrooms, rangers, player archers and casters the mids were wiped (ok i ran like a girl and made it to Nott) and the night was over. Was a good 2 hour ongoing battle and thoroughly enjoyable.
To my knowledge most of the mids were not overly TOA'd, had Font of Power but didn't seem to be throwing artifact abilities about, and again afaik were no particularly high realm rank mids. Likewise the hibs didn't seem overpowered, there was an archer who seemed to have his act together and kicked out sum vicious damage, clearign the 1k mark occasionaly but none of the others seemed immense.
I think this made it a lot of fun, i know the mids had no ma or debuff chains nor any real gank mentality. The hibs to seemed pretty random, the shrooms wern't abused, albeit they were powerful but they didn't put them in places where they were untargetable or thanks to GOA's LoS rules could take advantage etc... there was no lag casting strafing etc and all in all was a lot of fun. Think i made 3k rp's in the entire session, nothing compared to a good 2 hours in emain when steveh zerg isn't out, but was possibly the most fun i have had in rvr for a while.
Thank you to the hibs and the mids but i have to say if NF is going to promote more battles like that i am looking forward to it. The number of times i charged up took a vicious beating yet was able to run back down, made it fun, rather than the usual step into range and watch a 3 man ma-debuff 3 second double dd etc....
I am not in any way flaming the gank groups, hell my rp's love em, i just wanted to post that not all threads on here are zerg whines, flames and "xxx is overpowered". Also that rvr can be taken on a less serious level, it just helps to have people with you of similar mentality and in a perfect scenario have enemies playing at that level as well.
Perhaps not what i expected, but certainly fun
