How the majority of such a large sized country can be so ignorant is beyond me ^_^.

I'm sure this dosent apply to all Americans, but the majority of countries are taught in school and on TV etc about other countries, and what's going on.

All Americans learn in school is how great America is, what war's they have won, and the American history, and they can hardly grasp that.

If you question a big group of people there are always some ignorant people that answer questions with the most stupid of answers, regardless of what country and those are the people that make it into these kind of movies.
I remember a show where people had to point on a map where their country was located and nobody knew it (ofc they only showed the people that didn't knew it).
