After the runaway success of the latest Mustang, the other American manufacturers are dusting off the old muslecar names and retro styling cues. So, what does everyone think of;

The new Chevy Camaro?

& The new Dodge Challenger concept?

Personally, while I'm not a big fan of retro, these have a certain 'Vanishing Point' '70's cool going on...

I think its a sign that US car companies have no good designers.

What will those cars have, 7 litre engines producing 300bhp? Woaah. :rolleyes:

lol yeah. I don't like that one that much tbh, though I'm a big fan of the new Mustang.

They're both 5 litre-ish, 400bhp-ish (I think one's 390, ones's 419), so no shortage of grunt.

I love the Challenger concept. At least (imo) 70's American muscle cars looked great

But what do you get out of a British designed 2litre EvoVIII?

I want that Challenger, preferably in white for the full Vanishing Point experience. Still prefer the latest Viper coupe tho...

Fine car. Godawful interior though, but that's true of most American cars. A guy around the corner from me has one, and sounds fantastic, like God coughing up a greenie.

Its possible to put the engine from one of those in a Chimaera/Griffith, and have a TVR with a modern engine thats totally reliable :)

Pfft I scoff in the face of your Corvettes with their piddly little 7.3 litre V8's. You want 8.3 litres of Detroit V10 running the show.

Altho I do like the new Z06. It is ridiculously fast.

400bhp, but as they proved on Top Gear, if the turbo isn't blowing you have nothing. A Fiat Stilo is faster than it in top gear from 30mph. What yank engines lose in power they gain in lots and lots of torque, availible from tickover to the red line.

Perhaps, but 400bhp from 2litre - regardless of how they get it - is fucking impressive.

Nah not really. 1300bhp from 1.5 litres, now THAT's impressive. What's even more impressive was the fact that that was availible in 1985, as long as you had an F1 car.
