Am I going mad?

Ok I just got back home from work, I've been at the Superbikes in Brands Hatch all day, and drove 4 hours to get home to Manchester (M25 = fecked). Anyway, I'm sat here reading the posts on these forums, when I think to myself "hmmm, I should switch that radio off, I'm bored of Radio 4". Another few moments pass while I try and activate the muscles in my legs, so that I can shift my arse, when finally I realise that there is no radio. Or a television, and that the computer speakers are off. I listen a bit more carefully, and discover that the 'talking' is actually in my head, its just below an intelligible level, and I can't stop it.

I'm scared. Please tell me this is some form of short term tinnitus.

i've had that shit happen to me before... it was after a all night dance thing tho... and er.. i might have been on some illegal substances... either way, i didn't have to use the batteries on my minidisc player on the train home...

and another time... on my way to ireland, left the house at 5am to drive to north wales (bearing in mind, this is driving from london) to catch a ferry to dublin, spend a few hours on the ferry and then drive to the middle of nowhere somewhere on the west coast of southern ireland...

a few hours short of our destination and i swore i could hear the radio

i think it's just tiredness and stuff in general... your mind's just playing tricks :p

Well, if ya got fillings i saw some weird stuff on the TV about people with metal fillings being able to pick up and head the radio, their filling like bounces the waves at their ear and they hear it or something

Might I suggest that a computer-gaming message board is probably not the best place to get psychiatric advice?

Get used to the voices, they tend to hang around for a long time.

When they start telling you to kill the guy next to you because he is infact satan, just put your hands over your ears and start yelling "NO, I WON'T. You CANT MAKE ME! Arggghhhhh"

This will have 2 effects:
1. You can't hear the voice anymore
2. The guy next to you will run away, removing himm from harms way should the voices get their way.

It could be mild schizophrenia?

It doesn't necessarily mean your going to go nuts and kill people, in fact very very few - like under 1% are like that.

Go to the doctors and on from there.

Hearing voices once isn't likely to indicate schizophrenia, mild or otherwise. Everybody hears things that aren't really there from time to time.

I think it was just the combination of a very long day, lots of driving, loud motorbikes, and the whirring of the fans on my computer. I'm glad I couldn't make out the words.
