the classic example of paradox comes in time travel, if you travelled back into the past and killed your mother 2 years before you were born to prevent your birth, then who travelled back in time to kill her?

boffins came up with the alternate reality theory to work around this issue, saying that if you travelled back in time you would enter another reality where you are not going to be born so you can kill your own mother who isn't your mother in this reality as you're not going to be born here and you can then travel back to your own reality where you and your mother are still very much alive
