Well problem is if i lied id have to say yes i did else i wouldnt be lieing, and if i didnt lie i'd have to say no also. So by logics there should be 100% on no, and thoose who didnt vote no are well... hmm not thinking about what they answer, which is prolly quite right web polls

Yes if you say that you lied "yes", then you are saying you lied when you said yes and actually meant to say no. Which means you didn't lie. But as you said you DID lie, it kinda contradicts itself.

If you answered no, you could be lying, in which case you actually meant yes..which means...*continues on page 354*

only, there was 2 brothers one only told the truth, other only lied, and the main character has to find out what path to take, so she asked, "what would your brother say?"

Paradox isnt the right word, thats just a logic problem You need to make a question that is a logical statement involving both their answers as each one wont give you enough info on its own.

The question and answer are roughly as you say Something like each guard standing infront of a door, you ask one which door the other would tell you to go though and always pick the opposite door.

If you asked the nice guard, he will correctly tell you the lie the other guard would tell so you pick the other door.

If you asked the bad guard, he will lie about the correct answer the good guard would give, so you pick the other door.

Ask either guard which door to pick and youll get a different answer and not know which is which

i think the paradox thats discussed here is: this statement is false.
Now if the statement is false then its the truth - but then its not false!
If its true, then it's not false!

but the question is wrong if he wants to create a mindboggling question. coz to this one there's an easy question. if you press option 1 you contradict yourself and the situation is now a paradox, but option 2 leads to a simple and easy answer "no, im telling the truth when i say i didn't lie in this poll"
a paradox is a abstract thought that has no logical answer. if you have seen Futurama, the Farnsworth's Paradox is a good example of an abstract thought. the fessor creates a box including their counter universe, when they jump into the box they get out in a reverse paradox which has the opposite box (leading to their universe). In the end they each pull their respective box into their universe and are now holding their own universe in a box in their hands..? wtf

I remember reading about the 'french paradox' recently. That is that french people have a diet high in saturated fat, so they should all be dropping down dead of heart disease, but in reality the french have a really low rate of heart problems. People put this down to red wine and various other factors. As wikipidea says above, its not really a contradiction, just something that doesnt seem like it should be right, given what we know.

Theres another 'french paradox' with coffee, its supposed to be bad for your liver due to the caffine or something. But in reality people who drink a lot of coffee have very good livers.
