Alternative use for the fins list...

Last time @ fins, i held the list, and it was huge. There was a day/night group running, so effectively we had 2 lists and shunted players around so they had a better chance of getting a group, now, here is my suggestion....................

USE THE LIST! Sometimes there are over 50 players on it lfg, why not save a lot of hassle, and pm the list holder for the names of characters lfg...I KNOW THIS MAKES EXTRA WORK FOR THE LIST HOLDER, but with 50+ on the list, reducing the "what number am i?" pm's will compensate....at least it will help a lot of players get groups, this is my suggestion...

1 player goes to innis, pm list holder and make a chat group, and make EZ/siab city/banshees group.

IF a lot of players still on list, 1 player goes to DL, pm list holder and join cg, make marfach caverns group.

IF a lot of players still on list, 1 player sits connacht side of DL, pm list holder and join cg, make crim fins group.

This may only work at weekends when there are enough players to support 2-4 groups.

But will the fins list holder run the risk of not having any replacements for their group? I think its a great idea and ill give it a try tonight.

Trouble is i dont get on till 10pm

Tis a good idea, better than pissing about all day while iu wait for a Fins group, never wanting to get into anything too heavy in case u let them down when you are called for fins.

Another great spot for XP, although seems increasingly risky for RVR deaths these days, is DF, if u can get in during the 5 minute period we usually have it.

Well, I did exactly that on Saturday. There were 66 people on the fins list !! (thats no typo sixty six!! or 8fg on the list with 1fg at fins, christ get that number to excal with rams and you got a chance of a relic take, i mean ffs)

I PM's the list holder and asked him if he wanted to cut down the spam he was getting, he sent me the last 3 tanks on the list and the other classes for the innis grp I was putting together. Bingo , off to EZ with a good mix of classes all around the same lvl and GUESS WHAT?........the xp was loads better than fins, yes it's true!!!!

I know what seems like the majority of lvl40+ Hibs ATM beleive fins are the only mob that gives more than 0.0001 points of xp per kill but there realy is a world south of Callie and the xp and more to the point FUN vastly exeedes the tedium and Lobotomy simulation you get from playing at fins.

(hehehe if you look at my post history i think at least 80% are along the lines of "Why the hell does everybody want to go to fins" ;p

If you have a full group xping at fins and there is over 50 people on the list, why don't you move to the so called better xp place and let the ones on the list go to the fins, sounds much easier to me. Your group is just rdy and "balanced", so you just have to tell the classes that's needed on the existing list to show up on the fins spot.

Uhm, ok :)

I think he means that if you are 50th on the list, they would have a long wait for their turn?

Be glad you can even sign up for the fins ffs, try getting to 50 when you can only play two hours a day..

This idea is nice though but what good is it to nightshades or rangers? Or any other non-group-friendly-specced class for that matter? You'll have a "gimped" fins group all the time with void elds, rogues, nature druids etc. And who would want any of those classes? They all suck according to most people...

sigh

Rangers : exellent puller especially in EZ where getting scouted can = grp wipout

Shades : easily capable of tanking, (gets tricky for healers with more than 1 non-chain user as a main tank)

Void Eld's : Debuff energy and PBAOE dmg goes through the roof

Nature Druid : still gonna be able to out heal a classically speced bard

Please, don't read "balanced grp" as 3 chain wearing tanks, 1 warden, 1 regrowth druid, 1 bard or Mentalist, 2 PBAOE.

Sure certain classes are needed in a grp to keep down time to a reasonable level but that is the way the game has been set up.

Just wanted to defend that point, I never have and never will be a class exclusionist, those kind of peeps just don't understand the capabilities of other classes.

Agree with wuntvor.

Recent fins lists I have run as follows:

Tank list - Ranger/shade/BM/hero/champ, warden can sub

Bard list - mentas can sub, mana regen is a must, end not so essential

Mage list - ANY offensive mages

Druid list - high regrowth bard/warden can sub

Warden list - no rep, sry, but without pbt, light tanks get shredded

The myth that you NEED pbaoe, scale tanks, full regrowth druids or bards with lvl 4 songs is annoying, yes these classes excell at grouping, and are desirable, but not essential.

And any 8 characters can make a group, ever seen a group of tanks fight? real fun. A ranged group of ranger, elds and mentas? kill the mob b4 it gets a sniff at you. A group of shades? stealth and take down mobs before they even see you. A bard can tank if he has taunt style, 2 mages can kill red-con one runs in circles while the other nukes, then swap when aggro moves.......many ways to group, i have yet to see a group where its the classes that prevent the group working. if all 8 players are willing, it can work.

Made my warden a healing one, too many bards and druids weren't keeping the pace on some xp grps and blades 25 is more than enough to tank purp mobs ;)

XP in general is faster if you have a well balanced grp but good players count for more IMO, went to marfach last night, grp consisted of 2 lvl 48 wardens, 1 lvl 40 warden, 1 lvl 48 NS, 1 llv 42 heroine, 1 lvl 50 druid and 1 lvl 40 bard, we worked well together even when we had 5 reanimated champions/guardians and the xp was amazing. Mids put a stop to it but I had a good laugh when our bard survived by zoning to summoners hall then back again and rezzed me in front of 2 mids who hadn't followed the others through the zone :D

aye, just a shame that ppl DONT GET THAT ITS TRUE!!!.. Got a lvl 37 mana chanter atm, and ppl cant get their asses out of CM and come to innis so we can get them to 50 asap... its the same story over and over again, ppl dunno where to xp, so they go where everyone else go and that is the "N00b" spots with Low xp, bad drops, low cash etc etc.. CM is a Dungeon for PL'ers now and fins a simply BORING. So i will fully support your idear when i hit 40.

Who u calling retarded ;)

Seriously tho, thats what this whole post is about. There seem to be a hell of a lot more hibbies nowadays, take CM for example, used to go to the pit @ primetime and only 1-2 spawns camped max, now they are all camped, and 2-3 groups on the ramp as well. The fins list is unable to satisfy the demand for high lvl players, and is, in my opinion, soon gonna be unuseable. That is one reason why DF and Marfach are so important.

And i personally held a list with 59 players on it, 20 tanks, and when told players STILL wanted to put their names down! The situation really is that bad!!

Why don't people put themselves down as solo looking for group in the group box?

Coming from the US servers where people make themselves available the minute they log on I have always found it weird that the box is nearly empty most times in Europe.

I would have thought that if everyone on the list went to Innis and made themselves available for group the problem would be solved.

Does this sound too simple?

I've happily been grping here and there with my warden, not doing fins is saving me a fortune on matchsticks to keep my eyelids open.
