I remember in OF running from what place to another on my druid and we were right out in the sticks, not on a main thoroughfare or anything (btw that is NOT an inferred radar accusation!). I was with Elricstormbringer at the time, and I though 'hey, RR7 champ, I should be pretty safe'

Alpha pops out of nowhere and absolutely slaughtered us - one of my first tastes of non-fg rvr - ouch it hurt

Just to clear a few things up from points that have arisen!

Gromit was my original character (and later my buffbot). I created Gromit on the first day of release with my friends from Ultima Online in an old guild called Teamcow. Consisted of 7 or so guys, one of which was Alpha (Angrias in Ultima Online). We leveled hard and fast but some of the guild didn't take to DAoC and went to Anarki Online. Alpha was one of these people that went to Anarki Online and left me with his toon, Alpha Male who was at that time level 46.

I then joined a guild with Edge, Huma, Bellum and Jazhara to name but a few. Jazhara was THE person who got me interested in actually playing Alpha. We were amongst the first Albions to ding 50 and i then played alongside Jazhara in RvR with Gromit and decided that i would take up Alpha and level him to 50 and rvr him as a solo player. Gromit then became a buff bot, but as there was no such thing as respecs, he was a smite cleric buff bot with 4 in enhancements untill respecs came in.

I was extremely ill in real life at that time and so i spent an awfull lot of time getting to know Alpha and his capabilities - and of course practising this in DL. As for the radar accusations - I think that every decent solo player has been accused of this on more than one occasion, many of these accusations may arise from jealousy - who knows. But to think that i would have risked my toon that i had spent so much time developing and nurturing by running a radar program is somewhat ludicrious. Lets face it...there were 3 routes through DL - all of which are determined within 5 seconds after the victim left DL...they either follow the road, run straight up the hill and keep to the border, or they run straight up and over. Not rocket science to figure out where you will be shortly after ;)

I still have Alpha and Gromit today - and neither toon have ever been anywhere near Ebay!

What alot don't realise is he ran for most of his rvr career with an SI template and his only artie in TOA was battler.

Alpha , in my humble opinion, should be rated alongside such greats as Turgon and Talivar.

didnt he have Cyclops Shield too?

Turgon lols :D

40% of playstyle on your class is down to skill... how well you do? other 60% is down to mythic if they want your class to do well? most op classes at mo

are these really accurate statistics? :p

anyways he was fully buffed back when ppl used to run with blue spec's or even just bases from a bard because they ran with one druid...who was full nuture spec, motorhead for example. he was just annoying, as raven pointed out he could find you in the back arse of the tibet mountains without any problems :D

of course not

i would point out tho alpha above there made a valid point. he played his char so much that he came too know where too and learn'd how others played. i had same on bard, you could read what other players did like a book, well apart from those who cheated.

Not really... i remember seeing the first dreaded necro-like SoM morph used by him and i was like: "wtf... since when necros can stun" while trying to spot the pet :)

Regarding non-stop killing expiers, he killed my lowbie ranger serveral times, but he also spared him on several ocasions too, while i was leveling him at the trees near ailine in the patch right before TOA kicked in.
Besides that, while being killed xping was annoying, i never felt his play style as a grief play like that bastid horner, so comparation is more than unfair.

Anyway back in the day in OF I saw Alpha fighting alot versus the "best" enemy assassins and most of the times he won. I also remember something about Alpha which always made me smile when I saw it was that he could uncover the enemy before they got the opening ( PA, BS ) chain in, that happend vs good stealthers aswell. :D

Was he feared? Alot of people probably 'feared' him and those who not knew that they were in for a great fight if they saw Alpha with 50-50 chances.

He was a great mincer but every realm had someone who was 'feared'.

I used to avoid Salamurhaaja because I found him one of the toughest SB's to kill and when he was close around me I started to panic abit and feared him in the start till I gained some RR's. :D

If I had a fight with him then I knew that I was in for a great and close fight but he would walk away most of the times and me /releasing. ( in my defense he always came after me when his purge was up!!! ) :p

And then you had Varg... that was the only stealther in daoc who ever 3 shotted me were I wasnt sitting or unbuffed, it gave me a really awfull feeling. :p ( I didnt had alot fights with him but if that guy landed his PA you were dead... )

If I look back in the past with OF then there were quite alot of good stealthers out there which gave verry good fights but most of them quitted just after toa or when NF came.

Not true at all, he had a good ToA temp wich he used. I myself used to brainstorm temps with him abit and I know he had a 200 plat toa temp more or less.

Just by looking at an old screenie I can see battler, SoM, GoV, Malice, WH, Cyclops shield, mad tales. But If you meant when ToA just hit then you might be right, but at that time more or less anyone had like 0-2 artis lvl 10.

Alpha was good, but as has been said he was always the kind of player to use every new advantage available. Buffs, sc etc, he was always one of the first to make good use of them which is not a bad thing, it's being amongst the first players to realise what can be done with game mechanics that gives the advantages.

Saw him run plenty of times as well, usually from druids (Motorhead and various CF druids spring to mind) and the tougher tanks. But tbh on a mincer, who can blame him? They give mincers SoS/speed etc, why not make the best of the abilities afforded to your class?

Biggest bastard of the time was Bee, lost count of the number of times i pulled an irewood only to find him appear and send me to pve hell!

Iirc Korv was the very first stealther to use a buffbot.

And back in the first patches were u could PA a low hps toon w/o stealthing i found him as the most feared lad around the rvr zones (99,9999% of the time atk-amg).

Now, Alpha stepped in the post i wonder if he ever faced Korv back in his days, cuz i think the sb quit DAOC or gone to non english servers soon after the spellcrafting patch (or even before it).
