say first episode of this earlier with my jaw drooping down... its very very good if somewhat mindboggling.

basically its the theory that computers will handle society and everything will balance out so when Bill Clinton was in power.. he didnt have to make any decisions on the economy.. and any that were taken where by Greensbaum who was an advocate of the idea.

then it goes wrong...

Try watching "Colossus: The Forbin Project" to see what could happen if computers took over running the world.

Considering it came out in 1970, it was years ahead of it's time and 15 years before "The Terminator" where the computer tries to wipe out mankind.

I thought it actually happened, or I have I been fooled, didn't an auto stock market program nearly bring down the US economy (at least technically before they pulled the plug), it was trying to borrow the national debt to pay off losses.

Don't forget the Demon Seed, classic movie

Just watched the last of these. very thought provoking series.

the jump of logic from altruism to lack of free will was interesting.

the idea that we're all just machines driven by genetic coding is very compelling.

The Selfish Gene has gotta be my favourite book of all time. Dawkins refers to his good friend Bill Hamilton in it plenty of times, but I never knew much about him until this programme.
