loved it also.. im a big fan of the predator/alien movies so i knew i was going to like it..

I thought the director did a pretty good job from what he had to go on ie big bosses telling him it cant have any human gore etc

The most average film ever.

I disliked all of the cheesier moments, especially:

When the Predator teams up with that guide girl. Then proceeds to arm her with an Aliens head. Worst idea in any film ever. And i mean that. Not only did it look stupid, it was ill thought out and it was never even properly used, atleast not that i can remember. Also when "that guide girl" gets a "Mark of the Predator" (tm), and the head Pred gives her a gift or whatever. Particularly gay tbh.

I did however like the way the two stories were brought together, with the Predators using the temple's as a training ground, esp. the scene in which there's a cumload of aliens and they overrun the Predators at the top of the temple. Even if the idea in itslef is simplistic, it was pretty fucking awesome to watch. I also liked the idea of Bishop being in the film, pretty cool to have him in it.

Pretty open to sequels, the Queen alien could probably survive its descent into depths of the ocean, and the Predalien at the end was pretty cool too (Even if its gestation time in the Predator was a bit of a plot hole :/). :)

All in all, its better than the abominations Alien: Resurrection and Predator 2, and maybe even Alien 3.

The first bit ("mark")you don't like was pretty much taken from the original comicbook tbh. They've actually pinched a few of the various comics' ideas.

AvP was one of the the worst movies of all time .. that anderson dude has a habit of ruining good things. He turned one of the most athmospheric video games Resident Evil into one of the worst movies of the last few years.

As I've said in another thread here - Paul Anderson is a hack.

Not just a hack but a lame one full of bile and hate who makes the same crappy excuse...no thats not strong enough...LIE...that well "the studio cut this and cut that".

He made Event Horizon, then once it got a slating he suddenly said "oh there will be a director's cut out on DVD, because the studio cut this and that". Of course it never appeared.

He did the same with Resident Evil. And he is already doing the same with AvP.

Yes studios have an influence but they DO NOT DIRECT THE FILM. Anderson has money and power and doesn't take any shit off the execs.

One last note..Aada...we're talking about films. Which are Entertainment (with a capital E) - meant to be fun, relaxation. Fail to see the need to call someone else a moron over them? Leave the potty talk for another forum.

/edit: My opinion of AvP - a cruel waste of a licence. No need to say anymore.

Yep Event Horizon was a good film what was wrong with that? Anderson has power? LOL he has virtually nothing in terms of power if it was down to him he would have made AVP an 18 cert and alot more gore in it. But it was down to th execs paying him money at the end of the day.

Point to the bit where I slated Event Horizon? Personally I liked it.

I am merely informing you he's tried the same trick too many times.

If you want to subscribe to his BS, then I'll let you roll right in on the gravy train pilgrim and lap up every future Paul Anderson film :puke:

Apart from the concept of how the aliens and the predators were linked the movie must have had one of the most brainless and ridiculous plots of all time..... no mood or athmosphere which is what the originals were all about...I mean why not just spit on the original movies :twak:

I thought it was better than I expected it to be. I think they killed everyone FAR too quickly specially the preds!

also a few quick questions...

How come this journey was ment to be dangerous yet they all did was get into buggys and drive for 5 mins? they needed the woman guide...why?
Why were the digger men on the surface suddenly carrying guns?
The period between the egg laying and it bursting out was very short?
why was bishop in it, the "original" appeared in alien3?

Charles Weyland, the boss of Weyland corp which then becomes Weyland-Yutani corp. Bishop was an android designed in Weylands image.

I totally agree with you! Resident Evil could have been a killer movie, the atmosphere in the game was incredible. And yes, anderson fucked up another good idea. He's the worst director I know really, don't know how he keeps getting his filty spoiling hands on good movie ideas...

Plot Holes:

1. Alien Queen attacks Predator at end - despite, as we find out later, the fact that the Predator has been 'incubated'. The Alien films made it fairly clear Aliens don't attack 'hosts'.
2. The Alien Queen skewers the Predator right through its chest. How did the 'Predalian' survive?
3. Predators can scan inside bodies and seem pretty keen on making sure Aliens don't survive - seems odd they wouldn't scan their own dead buddy before taking him onboard...
4. The incubation period seems to have gotten pretty quick in this movie (although variable), the Predator seemed to be able to run around for an awful long time before the chest burster did his thing - and how come he didn't notice he'd been incubated anyway?

Point 1 I dispute, the predator made it pretty clear he was out to kill the queen, she wouldn't have just sat there and let him, wether he was carrying an alien or not.

The rest I agree with, the film is like swiss cheese for plot holes and general sillyness. The predators in this film are pretty useless :/
