Have you considered the fact that you could be bad at this game? Considering you dont know wether it was a hib/mid that ran up and insta mezzed you (I assume a skald)

There's nothing wrong with alb, just like hib and mid are fine. Sure mid/hib instas are annoying but we (yes I play alb too) have some pretty nice stuff too.

daoc is a punishing game.

when you pick your class and dream about taking it to the battle field and driving your sword deep into your enemies skull.

the reality is more you see an enemy you draw your sword and prepare the swing.

then it all goes black....

Theres some serious class imbalance in daoc. Its not all bad as like 5-6 generic classes in WOW is like so limited. Its impossible to get it balanced now with daoc as its so late in the day. but it is still abit worrying how mythic keep adding even more OP things into the game. It pisses the community off initally when players are on the receiving end of it, and then it pisses off the players who rolled the characters after they get nerf batted.

sounds like its probably a skald

and as someone said, if you don't even know if it was a mid or hib then chances are your not very good at the game
this probably has something to do with your problems
and do you have a full toa sc set with good resists etc (although 5 shot sounds about right)

lol, firstly how is a skald soft-skinned? :| and what class are u playing? i expect u were unbuffed, low realm rank and in crap gear (rogs etc) and u probably got killed by a skald higher than yourself, who knew how to play the game, and was buffed. dont expect to put hardly any time into a char and to own everything.

That's one of the biggest problems with RvR in its present-day state.

To the original question, Skalds have insta mez, but with chain they're hardly "soft-skinned". And that insta mez is on a 30-second timer; what happened between the first mez and the "repeat insta"?

And by the way, CrimsonHaze, you think Skald insta mez is anoying? Imagine how non-Albs feel about stun and mez from stealth on your Mincer!

I disagree here. It´s not harder to raise your RR these days than it used to be in OF. In fact, it´s MUCH easier. Why? Because you have all the choices of where to go and what kind of RvR you prefer. Want zerg? Go Beno (or wherever the action is atm). Want solo? Roam some more remote bridges or reinforcement paths. Back in OF, if you wanted to see an enemy, you had to go Emain, or die of old age waiting for someone to show up in Odins.
There will always be some higher RR people. And they will always have an edge over a new player, both skillwise and abilitywise. You die? Release, wait for rez sickness and go back. No 10 minute waiting for Visur because you missed the port, straight back to RvR teleport.
How many times have you taken part of a serious keep battle in OF? Now look how common it is to defend or trake a tower these days. If you WANT action, there are more than enough chances to get action. It´s all about not getting easily frustrated by getting killed.

I have played alb since release and got all the wrong classes and i can still find the fun even tho i get ganked once a while.

thorwyn - it's not the OF/NF that's caused any problems..

it's that if you solo you meet RR12 people, if you run around in a group you meet RR12 groups

never used to be quite the disparity - you could name all the RR10s in your realm...

Mythic know exactly what they are doing.

The game itself is totally flawed. I estimate like 50% of new people to the game will chose Albion, and prolly go an Paladin or a Wizard ( the cliched stereotypes from when fantasy fiction began !)

Mythic know this is the case, and its a fact that Albion has the largest population across every server, across the globe. How do Mythic compensate for this ? Lets look at the Cata classes. Can you imagine if Albion got either the Warlock or Bainshee class ? The alb zerg would decimate. You only have too look at the RPs for the 3 classes, heretics are way behind. ofc they get the rr5 ability, which in effect counters the warlock/bainshee abilities - but its alot harder to get that rr5 it seems, and heretics are only really of use in keeps/towers.

So mythic give hib/mid totally op classes to compensate for the lack of numbers - or 6 months down the line change a once neglected class ( Reaver, or in Friars case a few years !) and make them fotm for a bit.

Mythic are playing with our heads, no point in whining about this or that (and I have tried !!) because this was Mythics intention in the first place - they create tension on purpose, they make classes op on purpose, they give each realm from time to time a little boost - only alb love for years has been stackable TWF with reavers - now that was funny for a patch. I do not believe for a second they "didnt know" or "forgot" that TWF could be stacked - it was totally intentional.

Well... in earlier days, you could meet red or purple people in Emain.
I see your point, but the sheer fact that the area is now MUCH larger than it used to be should compensate for the mass of high RR people. It´s not like you´re running into rr10´s every second run.

Pawned or not, even people who aren't very good at the game have the right to have fun. If that means nerfing the people are extremely good at it down to their level, go for it. I assure you there's a whole more bad players than there is good ones.

i agree in a way, and ive only read the first few posts as i cba reading the rest, but daoc is too fast. Ive been playing on a few freeshards where you dont get insta killed by banshees or warlocks, and tbh its miles better..
