Albion Plate armour

Well DAOC is a fantasy game, but they are still trying too get much historical feeling in it,, eks the Viking helmets with no Horns (and thx god for that). But what puzzels me is the Albion Plate Armour. Plate armour was not in use before arnd 1350 AD - 1450 AD. Even Richard I armour used during the Siege of Jerusalme in 1187 was full Chain armour. So my question too Goa is, why do Albions have equipment for some classes dated too arnd 1350 AD when Hib and Mid uses equipment dated arnd 800-1100.

I think its mentioned there. Plate armour did exsist at this time, the Romans had plate armour, though obviously not of this type. Im rather suprised you point out plate armour in the wrong time frame and chose to ignore the trolls, dragons and magic.

So many replies with no meaning...the theme were plated armor...and i agree with sigvart here, the plated armor in it's form in the game is not really realistic for the time frame...neither is dragons and mythical stories and creatures, but hey, it is a fantasy game...why not remove plated armor and give the albanians some leather...then even mid healers could solo them muhaha...or not... i forgot u albanian dogs never go in groups smaller than 10000...ah well, eventually the kids playing albs will be so high on sugar that they leave and jump of a cliff(crossing my fingers x x x) anyways, plated armor in the viking time frame...not good,but then again...we would not want history to repeat itself in a fantasy game were the norse mythology kicked the dirty alb arse in rl history...i wish alb only had cloth....but no..they have plated armor and kids playing their chars high on sugar in groups of 10000

so, in fear of being redundant, i say no more

Actually the romans "plate armour" have more resemblance too the Hibernian Scale armour. And too all of u who comented on the troll thing, dragons etc. If u had read my post in the first place I started upp with "Well Daoc is a fantasy game". But since Plate armour is not a fantacy invention, I can not see why Albions should have plate armour, when Hib and Mid are stuck with Chain armour. (as little as any Scottsman would have fought for the British wankers in the first place)

Well the fact that you quibble on dates of when certain types of armour came in, and totaly ignore the magic/strange races/glowing items/monsters/dragons/fact that people can walk through each other just seems silly.

Hey, I'm not actually claiming that Albs need it so that we ain't underpowered. DAoC is a fantasy game where they have obviously based the facts around the time frame you outlined.

Hey, I wasn't there so it doesn't bother me alot. The English were slapped around alot back then, its a fact, and nothing really that leads me to any shame, and I don't really see how any decendants of any norse warriors can blow trumpets and claim how amazing they are just because they slapped some Brits. Thats the way the times were, and its what happend.

They most likely put it in as to show the island the Brits and the Scots lived on was being attacked by other "realms" and needed to stop invaders. Again, ask Mythic why, or just accept the idea that this fantasy world might be different to the history of our own real world.

Guess it was because albs had no uber strnght char like Trolls and Firgb... but it will be interesting too see whats happen when the New Semi ogre (not sure what mythic called it) with higher strenght than a Scotsman comes out. Then the alb Monopoly on 33% is loosing some of its meaning. And dont mock the desendance of the Northmenn at least when figthing Mid i see some honour,, when figthing albs,, all I get is a laugh and perhaps jumped on

Hehe, same here, since I'm an Alb on Pryd, where supposedly the players act with a bit more respect. I'm an evil Mid over here.

As regards to the plate, fantasy can be anything. A world consisting of nothing but a large rock with one eye is classed as a fantasy world, just as much as the world of DAoC is. Mythic just created an entire new world to which real life was a close resembelence, but as you see there were certain differences
