I have just had a extension and moved my kitchen to the rear of the house, but I am losing wifi signal at that end.
I have put in AirPlay which has a problem, it seems every time I use power in the kitchen, even something as simple as opening the fridge door, it cuts the signal and takes about 5 seconds to start again, then it buffers a bit and the music jumps about a bit before it resyncs itself

Now is this a power surge problem, if so will plugging the airplay into a surge protector help, or is it that the wifi signal is weak that its picking up interference from any change in power? So would a wifi booster do the job?

Cheers

Is it every time you "use power" or is it something more prosaic like the fridge door physically getting in the way of the signal? You really shouldn't see cut outs due to power issues. I think a range extender would probably fix your problem and they're quite cheap; I bought a Netgear one for about 35 quid a few weeks ago.

its only the power that is on the kitchen circuit that affects it, so if i use the ignition on the hob (gas), turn on the phone charger and so on, i mentioned the fridge as it seemed such a small power drop to cause a problem'.

Sometimes the phone/pc wont see the airplay box and i have to reset the hub, and then it works very well, it almost as if it gets worse over a few days and then i need to reset the wifi.

I probably could wire it rather than wifi if it came to it but i would need to run the cable outside, are the cables ok outside? It would be under the fascia so it would get wet as such.
