and yes its pretty much lineage 2 with wings and easier leveling.

well thats a downer, got sick of lineage 2 and the gold farmer bot zerg so if its just l2 with wings/easier to level I doubt i'll bother either, had an almost max leve char in l2 and I don't want that experience again.

I cant be bothered with anything where can be real griefer ability in it.

Champions online would be great IF they actually put in some more PvP options to it. The problem currently is there nothing a "set group" can really compete in, at least not with the aim of having real competition as your opponents will be random "n00bs" half the time that just thrown together for the fight. Though for people that want complete domination they will be able to get that as well as level all the way to max level through pvp (though it be slow compared to actually leveling).
Hopefully can get them to add some "team challenges" to mix in with the fighting. Will fit the daoc game more if can get them to have larger scale fights where a team could break away from the masses and go on the rampage daoc style (ie set group can take on everyone and forget the actual point of the mission.) Dont think the team vs team will keep our people that interested as a half decent group should have the ability to slaughter the enemy too quickly.

I enjoyed PvP in closed beta, but then I knew how to play the system and get great results. Rarely would die as people gave up on attacking me as they couldnt kill me. Also I could freeze up everyones systems with a FPS killing move that people moaned about (didnt affect me. lol).

Still got work to do on getting a balance in that, but got 7-10days of open beta to go in which to get the balance of powers there. Hard to do as no class system, every power is available to everyone in the game.

I getting moaned at by some people currently. I campaigned for the Devs to make PvE harder and they have. I should no longer be able to solo missions meant for a 3 man team that is 7 levels higher then me. lol. Some people just like easy mode but I got bored and wanted the challenge level upped :D

...
hmm off topic sorry. this is aion thread

My guild will be playing it in retail, I am in the closed beta at the moment but have had barely 2 hours to play so far so I cannot make a judgement yet. It is getting rave reviews from my guildmates though and most of them are at the 25+ RvR stage.

I couldn't last a week with Lineage 2 omg that was a complete fucking dull fest.

I haven't played Aion at all but i only have to read a little bit about the game to know it's just like Lineage only easier?

Champions Online is probably a buy for me but to be honest there is so much coming out on the consoles from the start of september right up until March next year i wonder if i will even have the time to play an MMORPG.

Right now i'm playing WoW though with my gf and loving it all over again.

All I really needed to know to decide on this game is that it has supposedly 4 million subscribers in Korea, so in other words I'd be stuck grinding day and night and still be left behind in the dirt.

I'd rather play WoW.

I've played the AION Beta and it just feels like wow. If the endgame pvp is great, I'll do the grind.

Champions Online will be kinda new (yes i played city of heroes). Because it will feel new etc, I will have a couple of fun months even if it's shit. I've bought both games but I'll subscribe to Champions Online.

Wasn't that keen on Champions online. Quite like the look of aion though, looks like they've added a lot of the features you'd find more typically in a western produced mmo, though apparently there is still a bit of grind, it's nowhere near the level of linage 2 for example.
I like the art style, and the animation looks incredibly fluid. The pvp system sounds interesting aswell. There's areas for both factions where you can level in relative safety, and then there's the main "frontier" area, where there's some good levelling, but also some good pvp, as both factions share that area. In your own faction's land, you can still encounter players who travel there through a "rift", but these aren't always available and are in random locations. There's also some incentives to kill people who go around ganking lower level people.
Overall, I'd say aion has enough that sounds interesting about it. I'm tired of WoW, the gameplay of wow is nice, but the community and the recent changes, especially to difficulty, put me right off. If aion plays as good, but offers a decent challenge and a better community, it'll be a winner with me.

Been reading around abit more and chatting to people who are in the beta at present for aion they all say its nice/fun so I really don't know, I guess its the same for every game :p there will always be people who dislike it and always be people who like it.

The only true way to find out what its like is to try it myself I guess ordering collectors edition now.

Edit: anyone up for forming a guild when it goes live?

I'd be up for forming a guild, long as it's like a general muck about at anything guild. don't think i could cope with hardcore raiding or pvp at the moment.
