Give me £4k (for the hardware...) and a full dump of the FH posts database and I'll publish a dashboard for it all ;)
What kit do you need to provide that if asking for £4k?

Couple of routes, I threw £4k as a "Probably covers at least some of these" but as always price go up as reqs and tokens/sec go up.

Easy version: 2 M4 Macs with with 128gb memory each in a cluster.
Long version: A cluster of these: Minisforum MS-S1 MAX max the RAM out. <- Even one of these fully kitted out would do well, but more is better.
Longer version: A Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495, supporting mobo, enough system RAM and maybe a GPU for offloading.

E: Put the right Minisforum in, I had the lower level AI Max one in which was like £1k atm. The above one a guy I know uses (Just 1) who got it before the spike and it does him very well.

I had a right rant at my phone the other day, and it got pissy about it, something about "not responding to that". It was just refusing to play a Spotify playlist.

PS, I usually thank it for setting an alarm, so it was probably in shock or whatever.

Ah nice, I have several MS-01 and a couple of MS-A1, not had an issue with any of them, the only downside is that the MS-A1 I had to buy an additional card for remote management unlike the MS-01 which come with Intel vPRO.

Gemini looked at my posts here - it said I used to be a massive cunt and am now just a cunt.

I also asked Grok and it turns out I look very fetching with boobies.

What are people using? I was looking at paying the £15 for Claude for a month or so, so I can form a proper opinion of it.

Is it any good? Can I take over the world with it?

I'm on the top end Max package for work and Claude Code is scarily good at what it does, but that's a single specific field. For personal use I almost never use it, certainly not enough to pay for it myself - it's way too expensive for what is essentially a glorified search engine.

I use Claude at work (especially it's connector with our accounting software - Netsuite). It's proved very useful so far. I treat it as an intelligent, efficient employee who can make mistakes and sometimes lie (although I haven't caught it out recently as oppossed to Gemini which lied to my face) so I need to sense check the work, like I would for an employee. When I might have asked a colleague to pull a particular report together or analyse something, Claude does it quicker. e.g. Asking it to analyse the number of purchase invoices per month for the last 3 years (when I was wanted to support the argument that the workload had increased).
It's also proved very useful when analysing other data - e.g. analyse fixed asset additions with respect to the rules for capital allowances for tax; or helping writing accounting policies or similar.

Can you get it to crawl your folders and files and make statistical analysis @Vae?

I use it daily to yack shit. But other than being an incredibly effective "teacher/researcher" of stuff I'm interested in I've not an incredible amount of use cases for it.

I'm wowed by stuff I can lean because it's already digested. But other people use it to do actual work other than tidying up emails.

Just not me.

If you're on a paid plan the desktop app can access local files and run whatever you want against them. So if have a common workflow you're doing daily tell it do create an agent skill for you with the steps involved, no matter the apps involved, and it will do all work at the press of a few keys.

We've got it linked to our Google files as a company so it should be able to access them but I've not yet tried it as I've not yet had a use case to investigate that. Same for our Gmail or Google calendar.
I was on the fence about how much use I was going to get out of AI (despite the company pushing/encouraging it) but the connector with Netsuite was the point that I really started getting worthwhile uses out of it (rather than research and using the Claude Excel addin to fix spreadsheets). Next steps will hopefully be implementing connectors with Shopify and Payhawk (payment approvals system) to give it more data for us to work with.
We are cautious though so have only set it up with read-only access to avoid it possibly deciding to do something stupid!
