Woke up at 7am this morning in absolute agony, I cannot twist my head to the right at all, think I may have pinched the nerve root in my neck. Anyone got an suggestions that might help? I have taken some pain killers and anti-inflammatories but they aren't helping as much as I would have hoped sadly. :(

hmm id say a hot bath and a heat pack on your neck then call the doc tomorrow, this could be related to the recient battering your head took so dont treat it lightly.

To be honest, the moment your neck is giving your problems and heavy pain for unexplainable reason, don't try and sit and make rational explainations yourself. Go to a doctor or the ER at the hospital to get a check.

They might send you home and tell you that it is nothing, but that is preferably than going tomorrow and have them say "Why didn't you come yesterday, then we could have...".

"Doctor doctor! We got another case of "freddyshouseism" !"

That's the condition where you talk about medical conditions on a forum and don't get it checked the f*ck out :D

I know that sometimes it is a case of "wow that was caught just in the nick of time!" but i'd say a trip to the GP is more sensible. Tbh it actually sounds like a really bad crick in the neck but because Cho got walloped on the head a short while ago i would say go to the Doctors tomorrow, if your still not convinced phone NHS direct, they can give you medical advice...we cant.

i have it on good authority that putting a shelled melon on your head and spinning anti clockwise, while rubbing garlic on the affected area, is a good cure.

They said heat and keep it moving, the tablets I am already taking will help but if it is still bad in the morning I should go see my GP. If it gets any worse I should head to A&E to get it looked at, especially if I start to get pain or pins and needles at the extremities. I just hope it eases off as it hurts like hell at the moment.

Most likely said "well it kinda hurts" on the phone, instead of "f*cking needles and pins when it feels like el diablo analling me right now!"

They think it's just a strain, or some such, but you should know if pain=lots go somewhere.

Ofcourse they tell you to keep heat or some such to save cash :D

Funny though "especially if I start to get pain or pins and needles at the extremities", or in lamens terms "if you feel like a heart attack or paralysis coming on".

Most likely it's just that you slept in a stupid position and it will get better in a few hours. I've woken up a few times unable to turn my neck properly because I was passed out in some stupid way..

It if gets worse not better go find someone who knows what they are talking about tho.

I also wouldn't say posting here was sooo stupid. If I cut my finger I wouldn't rush to my local doctor yelling omg omg papercut! but I might post here to find out the best way of stopping it hurting.

Without wanting to scare you too much, my uncle had the exact same thing, doctors tolf him it was a trapped nerve. Turns out he had an abcess on his spint and is now in a wheelchair.

Get it checked out asap

It's pretty clear that you are fucked, and I tell you this with my several years of experience from medical TV shows.

RIP.

Morning all, heat pads and anti-inflammatories seem to have done the trick. It is much better this morning, still very tender but a massive improvement. :) Seems like it was most likely a trapped nerve because I slept in an odd postition, regardless I am just glad it is improving.

if something improves it only means it will get 10x worse.

can agree with this.

Improvement isn't fixed.

Let's assume for an assumed second here:

Your neck hurts as an indicator of spinal problem.
You take anti-flams, which include painkillers(like anti-flams), and apply heat pads.
Heat pads and anti-flams work to relieve the pain, while the problem in your spine(or anywhere) rages on.

That's without even going into the whole "anti-flams might work against you" house style problematics.
