I let a friend at work have a copy of my skydive video and she was just saying today about how young I looked at the time.

I did the jump in september 2005, so just under three years, but to me it seems like a lifetime ago, I struggle to remember many things before then, its like my life really kinda started at that moment.

Its strange though, because looking back at it I really do look alot younger than just three years younger. I guess I really have aged alot since then; as practicly everything of significance in my life has happened after that point.

Has anyone else had anything similar? Did anyone else have something that made them grow up in a hurry? or have a certain point at which they kinda mark thier life as having "started" ?

Just an idle pondering really :)

I was 19(or just 20? cant remember) when I did the skydive, I'm now 22 - 23 on the 30th!.

Sounds about right :)

That's usually the age-fork where the youngster phase turns into life.

for you, it was a real leap into manhood :D

I moved to Helsinki when i was 20, own place, etc and that was the phase for me.

strangely the older I get the more I think in terms of risk mitigation and being careful. when I was younger I really didn't give a shit about anything. It may sound slightly morbid, but tbh I think I became an adult when I had the realization I too would one day die. It was an almost physical sensation, and iirc I was around 21 at the time. My behavior didn't change per-sé, but I note that I try to savor the things I do more.

My life started going to Uni - hundreds of miles away from home you either 'man up' or bugger off home. I decided to stay, drink as much as humanly possible and do enough professionally to allow me to play games, drink and have sexy time.

AEven after leaving Uni I'm still doing that now. :)

very strange but the same thing id say is or has happening/happened to me. id say the last 2 years shit has really hit the fan but probably more specifically the last year and more specifically again the last couple of months.

the trigger i think was when i had to start giving talks to large groups of people. only for 2-3 minutes and i was winging it, and a large group was 50>200. to me that was large enough to be fucking honest, especially since before that i used to break down giving a .ppt to 20 people.

going leaps and bounds in life now. i shaved all my hair off a few months ago and that marked the 'new me' i suppose. ive done everything id never would of done before. now i pretty much walk around always with a smile, standing tall.

in contrast to tdc, previous i did give a shit about everything. usually id not talk at all to anyone if i could help it as i didnt think id have anyhting valuable to say. now i talk to anyone about anything and ive noticed people keep coming back to find out more from me, i must be more interesting than i realised. ill have convos with random strangers if i can, though usually i go for the hot women.
a nice thing recently was when after a month i had to change teams at work. now i only see the other team for about 30 seconds twice a week but everyone comes to say hello and see how shit is going for me.

lol im going thin on top.

shave it right down mate, open blade on a pair of clippers.

takes some getting used to and probably about 10 cuts before it gets the clooney/travolta stubble head look.

I do it using the 7mm attachment because it means I can let my beard grow a little more from time to time...if im super close shaven, but with a beard I will look like a crazy viking or something

ive found open blade on the face and head is spot on. everything is the same length all the time then, has a good effect.

I always felt like i became an adult when my parents split up and i took on responsibility with my younger brothers and sisters (i was about 13/14).

Since moving out i feel like i'm regressing :D
