Ok, I've been wondering about this quite some time now

Absorption value is ok, the armor you got on absorbs a certain amount of dmg taken (10%, 19%, 27% etc).
Where does AF fit in? First I thought AF was an indication on how hard you are to hit, but that can't be, so I guess the higher the AF, the less you will be hit for, similar to higher absorption? Should there be then a noticable difference when you for example go from RR4-RR5?

Hope someone can answer :)

Abs = bonus to AF.
10% = 10% more af & af cap etc.

WS/AF*SomeUnknownModifiers = dmg taken.

Abs is just a graphical reprisentation on how your AF is calculated.

if your using AF 102 leather armour your effective AF per item will be

102 * 0.10

Likewise for chain its

102 * 0.27

Depending on the location of the armour piece determines how much of that AF you gain. ie Hauberks give far more AF than Gloves do.

AF is the only determining factor in how much damage you take, even though say 50 AF might seem a pitifull ammount when you already have 635 AF (AF100, 100% Quality, Chain) that 50 AF works out to be rougly an 8% reduction in damage taken.

AF also determines things like damage from spells or bolts, along with things like your enemies chance to hit you.

The higher you AF the better. You`ll take less damage and you`ll get hit less often.
