AE dot - a rundown pls?

gettin a bit worried about my cave spec shammy now for when she hits 50
was ae dottin for 60/tick in thidranki, uber stuff.
but been hearing the lvl 46 ae dot does sub 100 a lot of the time per tick?
i can appreciate ppl will have 25% matter/body resits whichever one it is, but does it really bring the lvl 46 ae dot down to 100ish ticks?

ignore BAOD for now.. but with AoM and EM does it really get as scabby as 60 a tick at lvl 50?

Well.. a cave shammy said that with a nice crit he can do around 230 a tick.

wa3 and an AE i guess ill crit loads too

spose its quite good, atrm im thinking 'omg 150 normal ticks' but also add in other ppl hitting the enemy, and i can respam the ae dot
with my own dd aswell

I've been hit by a shammy DoT for 300 a tick before now, although I have shitty resists at the mo (0% matter I think ) and it must've been an uber crit.

Dude shaman dot hitted me for 250 /a tick it does lot more than 100 most of the times (if you can get in crit 200+ otherwise 150ish) its a true caster killer (nerf cave shammy death spams )

No bonus from acuity buffs is a drag, and no quickcast.
But added bonus off more heath and chain armor.

but, mix a cave shaman and a BA Bonedancer in keep attacks/defence, and you got you're self a nasty force.

Thou the army dancers seem a bit week compared to cave shamans. I got a lvl 31 (28 army) dancers who's baseline dot ticks for about the same as my 23 shammies (1 cave) on mobs (yellow to dancer, red/purp to shammie). Ofcourse I couldnt compare AE dots yet.

BA AE DOT maybe a litle less forcefull than the shaman AE DOT... but... they stack...

If i were to team with a BA Dancer in a keep assault/defence, and we both landed our AE DOTs...

Thats between 100 & 250 (depending on crits and resists) from me per tick

and

At least 100-150+ from the BD per tick.

Between 200 and 400 per tick, for 6 ticks is absolutley scary!

Best have lots of people who can cure if you face a force with a shaman and a BA Dancer working together...

I can pretty much say that in a decent keep defence, AE dotters, such as mana ments, cave shammies and matter cabbies can earn an absoluyte ton of RP, the AE DoT can pretty much put healers outta action and kill the tanks if it keeps gettin cast on them, so if you wanna earn a lot of RP, make sure you are in keep defense as much as poss, because most of the time in open RvR, if you cast the AE DoT and the enemy has nothin selected it will instantly target you so about half the people on the opposing end will rush you so not a lot of life expectacy in open RvR but are THE keep defenders

DoTs are nasty things, very annoying as a BD when ur pets start to die because of a well placed DoT from a cabbie.

cave shamans are good, the disease and AE DoT are great during keep takes/defend...and great for dealing with cleric/druids, but the lack of QC makes it differcult to cast in the heat of battle

was thinkin tho, without QC would MoC be useful for me?

and id rather have chain/bolt/added hps over QC and acuity buff bonuses - just a personal note tho

roll on malmo for quenya then i guess

I Have 26+11 on my shaman and I can tell you that spec-line heals heal for the same ammount as Baseline-heals. And from what I have read on Ign, it's not wort specing mend if you aren't specing higher than 35+. So I would go either: 46/28/4 C/A/M; you'll miss CP and CD, thou. Or: 37/38/9 C/A/M; you'll get second best fart, second best aoe-dot and second best resistbuffs.

I'm specced: 33/32/26 C/A/M, I know it's kinda gimped, but I'm going to use my single-line respec we get in 1.62 and respec to: 37/38/9 C/A/M.

Ps. My lvl 29 aoe-dot do about 40-80 per tick. Ds.

well the mending spec is purely to minimise variance in the baseline - the specline one is nice guaranteed 350ish hps but a tad slower on the old cast time

This is the kind of damage I was doing with my ae dot last night at Hildskaif Faste. Note the lack of crits despite having WA2 . Bear in mind I only have 41+11 cave so with 46 cave you should be consistently hitting for much more than I was in this screenie :

um, why do Shamens nukes Crit, there not ture casters and therefor shouldn't really get crits with there attacking spells unless mythic are willing to allow Clerics, Thanes etc to crit with there spells that is.

remeber DOT doesn't have a fall off, and if you hit about about 10-15 people with your aoe that abaout 1000-1500 damage every 4sec.

I though after the first DOT hit the others don't interupt caster yet i have been interupted by a DOT after that.

i see from your screenshot you have done almost 2200 hits, are you sure thats not enough?
