you buying an AMD chip or intel?

if your buying an intel chip and its a "canterwood" then i would recommend the Asus P4C800 Deluxe, if your getting a "prescott" then i think its the P4P800 Deluxe, if your getting an AMD chip i havnt got the foggiest

grafix card, dont buy anything less than a radeon 9800 pro

I'd advise against getting a Prescott if you can help it, go Northwood all the way. Prescott's are hot running and power mad. Northwoods do as well (if not better) on benchmarks and run a lot cooler. Mine's currently at 31 degrees.

Anyway, I recently built a new PC with a £400 budget and came up with:

With £500 I'd put an extra 512meg ram in (about £50) and then up the graphics card to something better. Hope that's some help.
