Advice: If you plan on watching multiple-angle DVDs...

... then don't buy a Thomson DTH262E DVD player.

I'm pissed atm. I bought a new Thomson DVD player a couple of weeks ago, because my old Pioneer one suddenly was no longer able to play dual-layer discs (home-burned discs that is). The Thomson player had HDMI output and was not very expensive, so I thought it'd be a good player if I was to eventually get a big HD screen or projector.

I regret buying it now, and the reason is the damn angle icon! I got the Miyazaki film "Howl's Moving Castle" a couple of days ago, and because it contains 2 angles (normal film and storyboard mode) the fucking angle icon is constantly on the screen—and there apparently is no way to turn it off!
I tried everything I could think of, pressing all the buttons and so on, and nothing helped. Then I took contact with Thomson's online support. The conversation went like this:

When I watch a DVD with 2 or more "angles", the "angle icon" (a camera plus either "1/2" or "2/2") is on my TV screen all the time.
What do I have to do to not have it on the screen all the time? The DVD player in question is a DTH262E.

Luckily I still have my old Pioneer player, and it works like a charm with my new film. No angle icon there. It'll be a bit of a nuisance though, to have to plug/unplug the two players...

People wonder why I only tend to buy Sony/Panasonic hardware (Costs more, but works properly)
