I have asthma but still keep pretty fit and try not to let it interfere but take all the inhalers multiple times a day, going on runs and doing taekwondo but past few times this week (like this morning) I've noticed funny taste in my saliva like it was blood but there was no red in it, but could taste the salty coppery taste it has. Anyway this morning I went for a run when I got up and 10 minutes down the line my chest tightened up like it does some times when attack is coming so I took inhaler and continued but then blood started coming up, kept coughing up quite a bit of blood and had stabbing pains in my chest so went home and now just cant stop coughing, no more blood but so wheezy.

GP is closed all weekend so can't ring and ask for an appointment yet, anyone ever heard of it?

sounds like what you need to do is fill a bowl up with salt, stick your face in it and breath a big ol lung full of the salt in. that will clog up the valves and stop the blood.

or any sane person might take a trip to ER. thats the usual way to go about things when your lungs are bleeding.

I coughed up blood before and the nurse said that if its a violent cough and list a little bright red blood its probably from tearing the throat but tbh still maybe you should ring the emergency surgery and say look should I come in about this? because if you go to the A&E wait 5 hours just to be told its nothing you'll be pretty pissed off.

Ring first explain everything then go if they say to, thats my advice.

Coughing up blood could be completely harmless ... or it could be something quite serious. Call the hospital - there's also an NHS helpline - give that a go first - listen to what they got to say, and take their advice. If you're coughing out out gallons of the stuff call 999. Either way, its doctors or hospital on Monday for you my lad

take one lock of cats hair, mixed together with two frogs legs. follow this up with jumping on one leg for 1min in circles and you shall be fine.

never allow a cat to enter the room of a sleeping baby - they can suck the breath out

Blood, in any case, is a hospital trip with no excuses.

Check it out and that's the end of it really.

I've got asthma as well which is nowhere near as bad as yours. I might need my inhaler once or twice a month because I use relaxation to calm an attack before it starts properly.

If you've got some blood and pains, it could be that your asthma has badly inflamed your lung lining. Are you on any steroid inhaler such as Qvar as well as the regular salbutamol/ventolin? I found a 4 week prescription of steroid inhaler cleared up a lot of my symptoms for about 3-4 months.

You might also want to take a look at your triggers to see what you can do to reduce the chances of an attack. My triggers are dog dander, air fresheners and passive smoking to I avoid those where possible. If you can identify something that contributes to your condition, you can take steps to minimise the impact on you.

noo thats if you cough and a lung falls out.

Its like when you poo, if you poo blood it can be a sign of bowel cancer but it can also be a sign that you just ate something sharp and it gave you a little slice on the way out...

what?

Yeah I'm on some turboinhaler by symbicort which is a steriod and also some ventalin duo two times twice a day, and then extra ventalin if necessary which it always is when I'm doing exercise, I take it 15 mins before exercise, during if needed and 15mins after. My triggers are exercise, passive smoking and cold weather. Obviously avoid cigarette smoke but can't deny cold weather and exercise unfortunately else I'd be fat :p

Still wheezy from this morning so I'll just have to wait for my GP and have tests or some shit probably.

some people don't even know how to put a plaster on
Laddey cut his finger once and phoned the coastguard

Actually he called International Rescue, shortly after the Thunderbirds turned up in Thunderbird #4 with plasters and a tissue to mop up his tears.

Irish Poteen...

Knockeen Hills

The illegally home brewed stuff is much much stronger, so much so that it can make you go blind. :p

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poteen

Poitín or Poteen (IPA [ˈpˠotʲiːn], also potcheen) is a traditional Irish distilled, highly alcoholic beverage (60%-95% ABV)[1]. Poitín was traditionally distilled in a small pot still and the term is a diminutive[2] of the Irish word pota, meaning "pot". Traditionally distilled from malted barley grain or potatoes, it is among the strongest alcoholic beverages in the world, and for centuries was classified as illegal or moonshine in Ireland.[3]

Yeah true, the illegal stuff is a much rougher drink though because it hasn't been distilled to a great level so it actually tastes stronger whilst not always having a higher ABV. Also because it is brewed in garages it is often slightly contaminated making for any number of side-effects varying in severity dependant on the dosage of contaminent. In short, fucking loopy juice that will make your eyeballs bleed and your testicles fall off. :D

Infact I know a funny little story about poteen contamination. My uncle Marc who lives about 20 miles outside Dublin used to buy Poteen from a friend of his, this guy decided that the brewing equipment needed a good clean so he used some Mr Muscle kitchen cleaner on it. Sadly he didn't rinse it all off very well and his next batch of poteen was very special, he drank 3 glasses, went to bed and woke up the next morning to find that he had no feeling in his fingers/toes and 90% of his head/bodyhair had fallen out. :D

He was rushed into hospital, couldn't tell them what had happened because he was breaking the law and ended up spending 5 days in hospital until they managed to flush it all out of his system. In short, poteen rocks but avoid the homebrew variety. :p

Here is what is in Mr Muscle...

Diethylene Glycol Butyl Ether
Sodium Hydroxide
Monoethanolamine
Hydrated Magnesium Aluminum Silicate
Isobutane
Butane

:D :D :D :D :D
