Few weeks ago i signed up for ADSL trial with freeserve and am waiting in hope that my local exchange will be included in trial.
One thing worries me tho', that they are offering 512kb download and only 64kb upload!

Surely this is going to offer little improvement over ISDN for online gaming

as your speed of connection's gonna be restricted by upload speed?

Also 512kb only really goin to be any good for streaming CD quality audio and is goin to be useless for high quality video streaming?

Hmmm? Looks like BT's goin to restrict the growth of this potentially revolutionary technology in favour of their Monopoly cash cow by making too expensive for ISP's to offer the full version at 2mb download and 256kb upload.

I was rather hopin that if BT had made cheap enough that Barrysworld might have been able to offer a ADSL service *cough*/*nudge* *nudge*

. After all in the US u can get 2mb/256kb for about 40-50$ a month!

Would be glad to hear from anyone in the know who has any further info on the future of ADSL in the UK as im finding next to no info relating to UK?

Regards,

Rockhard

BT sure know how to piss ppl off. Guess we can't blame them, they're an evil money grabing bunch. After all they are runing a monopoly to rip as much cash out of us as they possible can.

What i can't figure out is why OFTEL don't kick BTs butt abit more. I think we should all hassle OFTEL to do more. Anyone know if OFTEL have a web page or something. An email address would be good.

Prob' BT got Oftel in their cash cow pockets anyway. You know, like MP's who accept favours and directorships of companies for voicing a companies/unions interests in the House of Commons.
