Nope I use it fine - have you downloaded a version for a previous windows version, or a 64 bit version by mistake? Are you using the official adobe installer from their webby?

A quick google reveals this problem is usually linked to a virus or spyware. Try running a full scan of malwarebytes and your visrus scanner. If you are clean of virus's, find the .dll file mentioned in the error and rename it - see if it works then.

And have you had an anti-virus installed and running that whole time? Is windows patched up?

Try disabling AVG and running adobe, if not, try renaming that .dll file as I suggested before?

Ditch Adobe Reader and get Foxit Reader.
Launches in next to no time and doesn't take up anywhere near as much bloat at Adobe's software.

Yeah Foxit is good, I use it on all my PC's now. I first tried it because it is so small - it is ideal for netbooks ect.

Hmm, so i totally uninstalled Adobe including the download manager, and re installed it, which i did about 4 times when this started happening.

For some reason its now fine and works ok, i'm not aware i have changed anything

Thanks for all your help

So - the question is, why have you not un-installed it and simply installed foxit reader instead? It's far superior.
