Well for better or worse (and no doubt there will be dancing in the streets of Jorheim tonight after this post
) I bid Midgard and Excal a fond farewell. The fat lady started singing for me about a month back when RL issues and the demands of PvP prep started becoming major distractions - to a degree where quality of gaming and time constraints were becoming increasing curtailed, and I apologise to my beloved guildpeeps in particular for not being there at all for you in the past two weeks. A new GM will be appointed by mutual consent of the guild in short order.
Cutting Edge (Excal) was originally conceived as a concept in pushing the envelop of the gaming dynamic away from the zerg mentality way back when the vast majority of Middies (and Albs and Hibs for that matter) only knew and lived for the zerg in Emain. To what degree CE succeeded or failed in this I leave you to judge. That my crew have given countless instructions to others on how to transverse the Albion frontier when it was a no go zone, and also the fact that Forest Sauvage in particular has seen a great deal more action for a lot of peeps since we started out are maybe indicative of what we achieved. CE guys were (and continue to be) at the forefront of Realm Defence rather than chasing the easy RP in Emain as well.
There are countless peeps I could thank for many many hours gaming pleasure over the past nine months, going way back to the beginning. You all know who you are and I wish those of you that are not joining CE on PvP the very best in whatever the future brings. Those that know me should know where they can reach me if they ever want a quiet chat.
To my detractors in Midgard (most of whom will probably take this opportunity to have a pop at me
) all I can say is take a good hard look at your own achievements for your realm before you critisise mine (and hell, I'm the first to admit I'm no fucking angel
). Midgard is in a sorry state at the moment with the same few committed peeps doing all the graft while the majority galavant around hunting RP in Emain as always. Why not get up off your RP hungry backsides for once and do something worthwhile for others for a change? Next time you're on the pad at Svasud and you see a DM in Upplands or hear of Middie keep under attack there will be a nice little token reminder for you as to how someone not around anymore views your prioritising.
To my detractors in other realms: Err, most of you for some strange reason are signed up for CE on Camlann so you can no doubt find out first hand what an utterly cold dispicable bastard I am if reports from some Middie quarters are to be believed
. To the others who aren't, deepest respect and carry on having fun.
And finally to CE members: You are without doubt the best of the best - the finest group of guys and girls anyone could have the priviledge and honour of playing with. My one regret in leaving Excal is that some of you can't make it and I will miss immensely those that for one reason or another stay behind.
/Salutes and Goodbye
