OK, I've started having some need for creating myself a vCard and occasionally managing other peoples. Most of the time I'm happy with Gmail's integrated contacts since they're accessible everywhere, but I'd like something which is more full featured (desktop or web based).

The Windows Address Book isn't exactly pretty and doesn't have support for contact images (which would be nice to have). Outlook will happily do that, but I'm not prepared to install Outlook just to have a better address book.

Recommendations, anyone?

Just on the off chance you have a Palm, I'd like to mention that the Palm Desktop does what you would want, I'm not sure if it can be used without a Palm though :)

Silly idea - what about a public LDAP server? That's what Thunderbird can talk to already.. and many other mail clients. Do Netscape still provide one?

Couple of address books on my site but they ain't free. They are available for trial download though.

Look under 'Business, Finance & Office'

I redoing all the software to show products instead of sites. When I can be arsed that is. Got as far as the address books though :) .

My recommendation, Ben, would be to wait until your iBook gets delivered and then use the Mac OS address book. ;)

It can, we use it at work, one palm but the software is on more than one machine.

That is a plan. Although I hadn't ordered it at time of writing. It'd still be nice to have something on Windows, mind.

Thanks for all the replies. I don't have a palm, though, and neither of the address books linked from MKJ's directorama are any prettier than Windows dated effort.

Cheers though. Hopefully I get my Mac this week, so all should be well with the world.
