This is not a whine thread, its just a question I have, AE today ran into CM rog group led by myself, In my oppinnion outsmarted u at the grave yard, having an absolutely awesome fg vs fg fight which is rare these days, and another hib group add. There goes our group!

They added because they know how much you enjoy it.

Don't you just hate all those elitest pricks who tell you not to add on their fights? Remember how they destroyed the server. This game is about taking keeps/towers and beating the opposition. Why give your opponents a chance? Out skill them by using superior numbers when you attack. Camp towers with DI bots inside because it gives you the advantage. Take their keeps when they don't have many people to defend its so much more efficient.

Aren't you glad your enemies have finally come round to the correct way of playing? No more elitest pricks. Everybody fighting for their realm the way the game was meant to be! :england:

i reactivated the hunter today and went looking for a fight.

came accross cerishas (who I know is a skilled experienced inf that would test me to the limit). after setting pet and plucking some arrows we engaged each other in melee...

I had a good headstart but he was gaining ground quick was a good tear up...

in comes AE (minidik, mrtwug, bahumaut?, Vsummin,...,...) from clip. blasts cerishas (sp?) nutz off. blasts my nutz off... moves off to find something else to add on.

guess thats just daoc though.... but like that group take their 200 rps. 2 players log off thinking hmmmpf.

Was always preaching I guess that something had to give with daoc or peeps were gonna loose interest. Can you blaim the players? I guess the old "cliche" arguement "someone died in an RVR zone" is true and you can use that arguement that the game is about killing and for all its sarcastic qualities it remains an accurate statement. But like I dunno, you can have it that way but I think ultimately this problem is whats making people leave daoc?

I declined from pinging arrows in you while you were engaging KZN and his pug group at DC bridge. (and I can plug arrows into you with complete impunity I can assure you) I declined to do this because it looked like quite a good tussle which my interference in would only fuck it up for one group of players.

So perhaps you could return the favour and just wait for my fights to finish before blasting my (or my opponents) nutz off next time? My opponent was of a similar ilk and left you guys well alone when you were engaged in a fight...

I've always viewed the "art of DAoC" as 2 things.

The ability to play your class well when you get into a fight so you win.
The ability to position yourself in the game world to give you the best chance of completing that fight without getting your nuts blown off.

Without the second bit then you end up with the same situation you get in every other MMPORG which you all bitch at endlessly of /duel.
Add free fights are very possible, simply do /duel challenge at your local portal keep. If you go out into the frontiers you need to be paying special attention to part 2.

There's 2 problems with the english cluster at the moment. People have got so wrapped up in the first bit that the second bit has gone out the window, so the assumption is you can pick a 1v1 in the middle of 80 people and have your fight uninterupted (clearly ignoring point 2 completely) and also the low population and layout of NF has destroyed the ability to actually try playing to point 2, because you either find 80 people at a bridge or no-one in 7 hours of running round an empty frontier.

If you get added on (especially as a stealther) then you picked a bad place for the fight. The problem at the moment is if you pick a good place, there will be no-one else there to actually attack! I've lost track of the number of times i've stood 20 seconds run from beno for 50 minutes solo, failed to see anyone at all, then come on here to find people bitching about their solo fights being added on all night in crim bowl during irvr tho!

Was it actually an AE group? cant see that many of AE actually being on during the day, I certainly wasn't. To be fair unsure if CM policy has changed but whenever used to see your group roaming about you would add on any fight going, don't know if that has changed now but at least you can feel what the rest of us feel when a group adds on a nice fight.

not really, but yes a little. Like in the middle of a big zerg fest where all forces are fighting and shits going down (as the brothers say)... then expect to get nailed. and like, yes dont complain about anything that happens to your character in a frantic RVR situation where keeps are at stake or theres a mass brawl.

However we were fighting under the water about 3000 units north of the main bridge. its was around 1400gmt with very few peeps around. And the GG spot us from the bridge and come burning in. took about 10 seconds to get there etc... thats not a casulty of war scenario, thats a FG going a fair old distance to deliberatly grease down two soloers fighting. Its that type of conscious FG add that tends to sux/frustrate a bit. not much me and the inf can do...

In terms of using some intelligence with your RVR positioning, basically you have to go to the places where your going to meet opponents or you get nothing. I hate doing that I am very inventive with my positioning but nowadays its just you go where the peeps are or there are no peeps! (like u say)
