Adam Sandler is the most hit and miss comic actor in the world. DISCUSS.


My contribution to this is that I think some of his films are sheer unadulterated genius, such as Happy Gilmore and The Wedding Singer.

Big Daddy sits in the mid ground.

And then I see the water boy, and it makes me feel like hunting him down and stabbing him. I tried watching Mr Deeds, but the script was disgustingly clumsy and laboured, and it hurt to endure it.

I've looked on his site: http://www.adamsandler.com/ and I downloaded the couch clip, and its painful in the lack of funny.

So how can the guy who immortalised the phrase YOU'RE GONNA DIE CLOWN! also be the worlds most unfunny man on alternate days?

Go see Punch Drunk Love if you haven't already Lou (I hope you don't mind me caling you Lou, but I think Dams is patronising).

Adam can really act and is fantastic in that. Its a shame he's done so much other utter toss.

I'd never heard of that film Xtro, but I just watched the trailer and it looks very cool.

I think the reason Sandler riles me so much is the fact that he can be so utterly amazing, and then he produces some tripe, and I rush to see it because its got Sandler in it and it could be superb

He does a bit too much yelling and screaming in his films which I dont think is always necessary.

I agree he does have a lot of really dire films like The Waterboy...

In fact lately he hasnt made anything really worth watching

I didn't find Happy Gilmore *that* fantastic.

I agree with you too an extent; but he isn't the only actor/comedian to run hot and cold. Jim Carey(or is it Carrey?) is the same.
He has some films, which can only be classed as genius (The Truman show, Ace Ventura(at a push)) whereas he has some films which are absolute shite. The cable guy, anyone? Not holding out much hope for his new film, as i believe it will be a let down.
If it terrible, it's a big disappointment as i believe the basis for the story could work quite well.

Bruce Almighty is pretty damn funny, to be fair. Some of the sugar sweet american christian morality that runs as subtext is a bit cloying, but the humour is sound.

Well, I'm rampantly anti religious propoganda, and I didn't hate this film. I hate hard sell religion and hard sell morals, and this film didn't try to hard sell at all, but it was there in subtext.

Give it a try. I thought I'd hate it, and I didn't.

OOORRRR they could have been crank-calling or whatever. and there are like 3 ppl in the USA that has that number afaik, only one of them has sued so far
