A couple friends and I Have started this tradition of going out ever other saturday and trying out a new beer brand or two. This Saturday I ended up with this little beauty.
big-rauchbier.jpg

quite an experiance I must say, very smoked, sweat and with an aftertaste that i can only explain as close to Sønderjysk spegepølse [salami]
I really enjoyed the first half of the beer, but if I try it again I'll be sure to have someone to share it with since 50cl gets to be abit much in the end.

last time I was out i tried this one, a 12% Barleywine, Can only highly recomend it, by far the best barleywine I've tried to date.

do share if you've tried anything recommendable :D

Desperados!!

Had a few of those in Paris last year. If its the one flavoured with Tequilla? Quite nice for a light beer.

I still rejoicing over the fact we can now get proper beer in Dubai. Bought some Speckled Hen and Hob Gobblin last week. Bastards threw in a free case of 1664!

Nothing like a pint of Bombardier, goes down waaaaaaay too easily.

The hangover the next morning is a bit of a bitch though :(

Nice pint that although I prefered Old Thumper.

Aye not bad.

If you can find anywhere to get it, try Tongham Tea - local brewery to me (Hogs Back Brewery) and don't think the stuff's travelled far, but quite possibly the tastiest pint you'll ever slap your lips around :D

I regularly go to a weatherspoons pub in boro, so nice selection of ales (Probably best in Middlesbrough I think?) - they often get Old Peculiar in which I have to say is utterly fan-fucking-tastic off the hand pump.

the super strong black sheep is pretty decent.

sharma, i reckon the star has a better selecting of handpulls. at one point they were getting new ones in every week.

Not really a fan of pub chains, but difficult to knock Weatherspoons tbh. The range, the prices. They've been selling the polish and czech beers a few years now, only now last yr or so other places caught on and started carrying Staropramen etc. And 1.50 or 1.80 a 500ml bottle or wtf it is. Cheap up north, but their prices are fixed over the country and stupid cheap down south. Go to the pub next door and pay another quid over the Weatherspoon prices for a pint.

Only time i'd ever go there is Sundays, rest of the week it's full of trendy dressed twats that are like "EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW Did that shirt cost you like £10? EWWWWWWWWWW" as well as staring you out then shouting slurred abuse when you look their way.

Dickens Inn is full of them too, *****.

Still, ale selection in boro is quite hard to find tbh, it's a shame really since most of the students out drinking prefer piss-water to a decent pint. :p

You only had Staropramen for a year or so in most places? Poor bastards :p

Not much chance of getting any out here. Was absolutely amazed when I saw Speckled Hen and the various Hob brews. For years all we could get in Dubai was Bod or Guiness. Hopefully the ales will sell well and get more varieties in.

Think I've had Hogs Back beer in Godalming where my brother in law used to live. If they served it in the Hogs Head there or any of the other local town pubs there I probably have had some.

Yup Godalming's just down the road - can't say I've ever had a beer over there though, but I don't think the Hogshead chain ever really carried beers from independent breweries? Could be talking out of my arse, memory of drinking in pubs is never one of my best abilities :p
