Please excuse my ignorance, but what was the other way to target?

Reading between the lines, it seems that you could hold the mouse-button down and just "sweep" for a target?

Innocent question, btw, since I've always targetted by quick-clicks.
That's what i was wondering about too.

If this means it will be harder for bards to target and insta amnesia solo skalds, it's a good change!

useless to play cc'er in high speed, even after impact you can stand spam mouseclicks just to get right targets, retarded deluxe

No matter how fast you release, there's always gonna be a delay between clicking and releasing, no matter how fast you are, if a target 'moves at speed 5 and at a funny angle' that target will have moved a lot even in that small delay, making it very hard to target stuff, well for me and many other cc'ers at least :p

No, no and no, still need good targeting whatever you play, can't see how it makes it unplayable, when something this small has changed from my pov, still getting target of someone fast...

healer/bards aim to single insta leader of enemy grps, where most are running on speed5, that is the problem. other then that its not that bad, imo ofc

Before the patch, you got a target when you clicked the mouse on a person. Now you get the target when you release the mouse button. Try holding down the button on buffbot for a few seconds and you'll see you wont get a target.

This is the deal since there are many that dont seem to understand why
some of us are having difficulties.

Before patch, you got target on mousedown.

After patch, try strafing or moving and target anything.
What now happens is that you need to get a mousedown click on target
AND the target must be on the same spot on your screen when you
release the button.

That means that if you or the target is moving you need to make sure
that during the fraction of a second it takes to release the mouse button
your target must not have left the same area on the screen where your
mousedown event occured.

This can be illustrated by testing like so:

Stand still and target something that stands still.

You will get target on release of mousebutton regardless of how long it
takes between the mousedown event and the mouseup event.

Stand still and target something that moves across the screen and
click the target and let it move about 2-3 centimeters on screen
while holding the mouse button and then release and you will notice that
you do NOT get a target.

What actually seems to happen is that the game checks that the mousedown
and the mouseup events do not occur to far away from eachother on screen.

The impact of this is especially noticable if you strafe and try to target
something or if you have something running across your screen.
You will then have to be fast enough on the click so that your target
has not moved a certain distance on screen and you also have
to be fast enough so that your mouse has not moved that certain
distance on screen that might make it miss target.

In short: Your target needs to be in the same area on your screen where
the mousedown event occured and you need to release the mousebutton
while the target AND the mouse is still within this small area on screen.

The advantage for small classes have always been there but now it is
illustrated to the fullest extent.

ye its moving targets that suck most. u get them clicked but u gotta release button before they move out from under your cursor. isnt always easy at wierd angles/speeds and panning cam. QQ etc

Was really bugged for me, did Deridas skin @1280x1024 Window mode, ToA client. Tried using fullscreen and it's a lot better.

targetting when I release but I click fast :p

however on /keyboard Mouse Pan is UNSET - I set it to left mouse button and it's damned annoying trying to target ;)

so: /keyboard, set something to left mouse button, set it back to whatever it was before (this clears your Mouse Pan) and then accept. See if that improves things.

I do play a main cc char (Mind specced Sorc) and I didn't notice this 'bug' until people started complaining about it on here. Though admitedly I rarely run at speed 5 :)

Have same settings as Fing for Mouse pan, but as I've already reported targetting is obtained on release of button.

I wonder if changing the mouse button to 'double-click' would help?

its not really a bug, just a modification, and the only way to get over it is to slightly change ure style of play. It has only slightly effected my game play so im not to bothered about it.

Running SI client, target on release.
can be abit annoying if you are a main CC class trying to target a jumping luri with speedsong, actually, that can be considered extremely hard ;p

My god, could you simply hold down the mouse button in older versions over a player until you got a target?

Ive allways quick clicked and released and allways found it quite dificult to target high speed moving players. And I could never understand why when I have quiet good aim from playing FPS's up until daoc.

I don't have any problems targeting ppl running w/o speed, but if they have speed 5 or speed 5 + sprint then I have problems :/

and I use Derida 1.80 UI. with catas

no, been said a million times but i guess one more time wont hurt

before patch you got target as soon as you pressed your mousebutton down, now you get the target when you release the mousebutton. there's a delay between clicking and getting target now, which for some people apparantly is extremely frustrating

you couldnt just hold your button down and hover over people until you got target ;p
