I am trying to figure out what will be the near future of the Hibernian economy (and DAoC economy in general)
At the moment the inflation curve is growing very quickly.
The "money creation" process is far too quicker than the "money destruction" one.
The reason is not the ToA Arti/scroll market growt (that makes money only flow and has the consequence of making inflation "visible" but does not "create" much money) but the FOP+ani PL team extreme farm power.
Now this fact has many "social" implications. Mainly it tends to separate Hib social classes. Those that can affort and partecipate to the richness ("the hardcore") and those that see the growing price of the end goods (arti/scroll/drops) and feel excluded from the more valuable merchandise ("the casual").
The fact that arti camps are always occupied, usually by people part of the stronger social class, that usually has more power in terms of account numbers and time availabilty, is another reason of social moaning.
What will be the future?
Well, is a fact that money does not have a value by itself (you cannot eat coins). So is in Daoc. Plats have no sense if not related to the items you can buy with them.
So inflation will continue its growt untill:
1) The higher social class will need more items and will have the money to buy it
2) More people will pass from the lower to the higher class expanding the market basis (see China). Buyng multiple accounts and spending more time in Daoc playng.
Here come one of my theories.
The point 1) is coming to the end. The harcore players (the higher social class) are filled with items, all they want they have (or soon will have). Some (deficient) people filled all his buffbots with Artis. So that kind of customer will not substain the whole market in the near future.
The point 2) will be a small phenomenon. Even if you can buy more accounts, the "time" factor is too much RL related and cant be changed. A casual player (the lowe class) has usually a work and a family and will never become hardcore.
So what will be the effect?
A lot of money in a few people vaults and CMs filled with unsold items (Hardcore dont need them, Casual cant affort it)
A very weird situation.
More and more money created... and prices that have to drop becous goods remain unsold.
And so in this loop no more sense for the higher social class to perma camp arti they wont be able to sell... and arti camps available for casual player.
So I see a light of hope for casual players in term of econony?
Yes...... untill new expantion anyway
