This is the gospel most players have been taught since noobiehood, and some have actually come to believe it. It's actually rather sad. I will bet you a hundred plat that most of the doomsayers who (a) spell certain disaster for future patches and expansions, and (b) revel in misery about the "good old days" would be the very first ones to whine if all these expansions did not come and change the game considerably the way they have done. Instead, they would complain about the game becoming stale and boring and that nothing ever changes, and would quickly bugger off to other shiny, new games. Don't kid yourself, it is the fact that DAoC keeps renewing and reinventing itself that makes us all continue playing it.

Its not like people don't want expansions, it's just that many don't like the direction the new expansions have taken us, atlantis , boats , keep/tower warfare , hard-to-get artifacts and scrolls, arti camping/stealing and in general more greed. Im aware of that they can't please everyone so when I'm saying it was more fun in daoc+si it is because thats when I had the most fun in this game , when most of the people were new and you could level up and not worry about getting artifacts, template stuff and MLs. Tbh , I wrote that because that is something I keep see people saying, "nothing new here , move on ". Expansions haven't ruined DAoC , it has just brought it up to a whole new level and many aspect of which some loved about the game is disappearing, I wont bother argumenting against you simply because you are probably right , DAoC would most likely die out without any radical expansions/changes, still won't change the fact that at least I found the game more fun to play before :)
