Would be nice if someone could list here the abbreviations and their meanings that are used in-game, for example:

INC (Incoming?)
Nerf
Zerg
BAF (Bring A Friend)

and more of these...I have to read them 100times a day but I dunno exactly what they mean :p

nerf - To severely mess up something. Usually a class.

Zerg - Lots of people charging not so many people, usually ending in a massacre and dodgey lag.

You got the other two right.

BAF - (Bring a friend) Friendly monsters who invite their friends to the party/fight.

INC - Or Monster incoming!

OOP - Out of power
LOP - Low on power
OOE - Out of endurance
LOE - Low on endurance
BAF - Bring a friend (when you pull a mob another comes)
RTC - Rooted to come

RVR ones:

PK - are portal keeps where you port into, add an A, H or M to the front for relevant realm.

MG - milegates a little way from PK's. again add an A, H or M to the front.

In Thid (battlegrounds):

CK - Central Keep

AB, HB and MB which are the 3 bridges surrounding CK.

Can't think of any more of the top of my head.

Just an addendum, some people use OOM instead of OOP, out of mana. Also in Midgard people use PoM/PoX as an abbreviation of our only mana regen spell.

PBAoE = Point Blank Area of Effect = A spell that has the stated effert of the spell on everyone in a radius of 350 units.

Heres another one for you, not so well known but its still good to know:

BARRY!!!

.....

Barry Manalow! :D

Along a similar line as PBAoE, GTAoE is Groud Target Area of Effect - fairly obvious - you target a ground spot and your area of effect spell will centre at that spot for a radius of 350 (think that's highest/only radius for AoE spells might be wrong, never played a caster).

Also DoT - Damage over Time. Also a new one that confused me until I worked it out, HoT - Heal over Time.

SoS - realm ability Speed of Sound (minstrel)
BoF - realm ability Bunker of Faith (cleric)
FH - realm ability Faith Heal (paladin)

And you will get the various keeps shortened or put to initials, although these are personal and can be confusing, like someone else said, does DC equal Dun Crim or Dun Crauch ;)

Oh and to quote an obvious one DF = Darkness Falls ;)
HoC = Halls of the Corrupt, another rvr dungeon in the frontiers, although I haven't heard this used so much.

CG - Caer Gothwaite, also known as Caer Goth ;)

I've probably missed loads, and might be wrong on some, please others feel free to correct!

Also PoT - power over time, synonym for MR/PoX.

And DC = Druim Cain. The others are crim and crau. Duh. ;)

CS can be Castle Sauvage, Cornwall Station, or Caer Sidi depending on context. ;)

Referred to in Midgard as apk / hpk / mpk for Portal Keeps... same difference, though.

Then you get combinations :

mmgE is Midgard Mile Gate in Emain
hpkO would be Hibernian Portal Keep in Odin's

etc...

IBTH - Sorry. I don't know.

Nerf - A really soft, light, harmless material used in children's toys. When something's 'nerfed', it's made less effective, i.e. harmless.

Spam - The origin eludes me, but it refers to excessive and often repetitive stuff that's being pushed on you whether you like it or not. Unsolicited email is spam. Posts on webforums with no real content or message is spam.

TBH - Abbreviation for To Be Honest.

Not sure about IBTH, but IBTL is I Beat The Lock, meaning that this thread is going to get locked.

A History of Spam
----------------------

SPAM is a British processed meat product (yes, we're famous for our culinary skills):

spam.gif

SPAM stands for Spiced Pork And haM

It was used in a famous Monty Python sketch where a waitress was giving a customer list of what was on the menu. Everything contained spam, and lots of it (and a bunch of Vikings would occasionally pop up and sing about it).

The word spam thus became used to refer to unnecessary, useless and unwanted repetition.

SPAM is still produced and consumed by the British public. I have a tin of it in my cupboard at home :)
