i feel with you ;) I'm not usually freaked out by spiders. But alittle while ago a HUGE, spider crawled up my wall. When i spotted it, my first thought was; "where this monster escaped from?!". I franticly searched for something big enough to slay it with. Since it would probably just have eaten the TV guide i had. It reached my sealing, couldn't support it's own weight, fell... I heard that mother hit the floor...and i have carpets. then it disapeared behind my computer table. I freaked, ran out and got the vacuum cleaner, never got it.

probably one of the Tegenaria Atrica. It's a funnelwebspider, and the biggest spider in central and west europe. It's a big mofo and just to reassure you, the male is only active at night... :p
They like corners and small hidingplaces, like behind closets etc., and they're pretty fast aswell.
I got 'em here pretty often, although I haven't seen 'em this season yet, but that's what you get when living in a 200~300 year old house :)

^ watch it, big picture on the right

and a dutch website:

^ three pictures in the middle of the page

they live on little insects, so you're not his main meal ;)
they can run really fast indeed :)

i feel your pain !
i pick little spiders up and everything, but there seems to be a sudden influx of the BIG FAT HUGE ones! i went to make dinner last week with my sister, and went to light the hob and this fuck off massive one was sitting on the hob plate, didnt really wanna remove it but i wasnt allowed to incinerate it and my sister wasnt gonna pick it up so i grabbed some kitchen roll and tried to pick it up in that but it ran around it on my hand eugh:<

When it comes to late night beasty hunting:

samurai sword > airsoft gun!

I personally cba to go chasing every spider/fly I see around and taking it out, but I make an exception for wasps :)

Could have been this beauty

On the subject, I have a horror book that is 25 years old and its about killer spiders in the British Countryside, who hunt like those ants in Africa that eat everything and anything in a certain area.

Scares me shitless, shame I cant get the earlier version of it :(

I reckon you should use SoM's second ability to detect it and then pwn it down with dd's!! :p

hope it wont cause you anymore problems though :) Usually if any insects get into the house they get munched by my slightly strange cat. If you are very very worried just borrow someones cat :touch:

Are these things migrating to england or something? I never saw spiders this big until last summer back in my old area and now here this summer.

I'm not particularly bothered by spiders, but spotting one of these makes me jump a bit :p
