An update for anybody who's interested :)

Good news for Joe. He took TEN assisted steps the other day, assisted by nurses and physio people etc. But still 10 steps is great. We're very proud of him and we make him fully aware of this as it helps towards recovery.

To put the icing on the cake, we went in one afternoon and BOOM his sight came back in his left eye! Not completly but better than nothing.

He can also twiddle his fingers, now the doctors said its a big step from not doing anything, to twidling. Atleast they have something they can work with!

The doctors and consultants/stroke specialists are very...suprised, if not shocked at how well he's recovering and how quickly.

The stroke has...hurt??... 40% of his brain. 40% is a big chunk missing but yet with all the love, support and care he needs he's going to make a good recovery :) thanks for your advice and support fellow friends. Love you all.

Sweet, good news. 40% is a lot of brain to loose. Good that his motor functions and sight are returning.

best thing for a stroke is insta-care. it'll still take a lot of time though.
also don't knock finger twiddling! the brain will be busy rerouting data paths as best it can. everything/anything is beter than nothing. you should encourage him to push push push practising movement no matter how hard it is or how frustrating it gets.

Lucky it wasn't your brain Laddey! 40% would be more than half! :p ;) :D

Best of luck to Joe, alot of people make good recoveries from strokes if they do as the doctors tell them, he sounds like he has made a good start but don't let him slip bud.

He's very confident in himself that he's going to make a very good recovery. He can get from his bed to his chair without a hoist. It's like re-learning life. How to speak, walk, eat, shit, shower etc. He's picking them up though :)

Thanks fellas.

Good man, that is what it takes to make a proper recovery, heart of a lion and balls of steel.

Send him our best wishes. :)

Hay Laddey this is excellent news, things looked so bleak there for a while I was afraid to look at your thread (can only cope with so much woe) but I am so happy for you all and hope he makes a swift recovery.

Best of luck with it all my dear
