A sad story

I was at a dataparty called TheGathering wich is in Norway(Vikingskipet).
I played daoc alot there and the third night i felt like sleeping since i had been playing daoc in about 22 hrs :)
I found a nice spot and felt asleep.
After about 4hrs of good eye resting i went back to my seat to play more.
I was ready to portal from midgard to hib when i saw.
"WTF! WHERE IS MY ARMOR?!?!"
Someone had stolen my armor, my money EVERYTHING but my robe and some Gold pieces.
I smashed my keyboard (wich was very painfull for my hand) and started to see if i found anyone around me who was playing daoc atm. but it was no one.
I admit it was not so smart to let my password file beeing visible at a lan party but when u have been awake about 60hrs you dont think about that =)

So my question is, can someone help me? all i got now is AF 40 armor, 5.7DPS sword and about 50Gold who i got from a m8.

Keep your PW in your head. Only a few with special skill got access there. (Trolls should NOT use this way of storing their PW because they won’t be able to log in if they are hungry as they tend to focus 100% on food some times)
If that(your head) don’t work use your PDA or mobile phone to store your PW.

If you do keep your password in a txt file on the desktop, then download PGP and encrypt it with a 128BIT encryption.
There is noway anyone ever gonna break that...

i keep my account password, (moms VISA number(hmmm.... she said to me to delete it 8months ago or so...)), subscription password, cd-key(even tough its not necessary)... that goes for all of my games/programs in a textfile named 1337.cfg in my HL directory :) ...

then i have another textfile with passwords and stuff to homepages with beautiful looking women pictures ;) .... but that file is in a directory that noone else than i will ever know of

there is another way to store ur pws and stuff like that in a textfile named f.ex: ALL MY LOGINS AND PASSWORDS TO EVERYTHING I GOT IN THE WORLD

put it in(forgive me for saying this) floppy disk :) can carry it in ur wallet or something... and they are pretty flexible so the wont break instantly if ur drunk and fall on ur ass or something...

Just dont keep PWs on ya PC, turn off auto complete, scrap windows, dont leave yaself logged into machines in public places, get a palm pilot and password that to keep that kinda stuff on.

Sorry for your loss, but tough really bud, one of the risks leaving your machine accessable to the public.

That's a very good idea imo. However, it's possible to break it but it's VERY difficult and VERY few people can do it. Those people who hack you computer and think they are so '1337 hackers' are nothing but a bunch of copycats who use the real hackers' methods to hack into computers. They will never break a 128Bit encryption code :)

They will first need to program a decrypter and break the encryption code. Doubt no one will spend that much time just to find some daoc passwords :D

use passworded startup + passworded pause-screen if you run an older OS, or ctrl+alt+delete and lock computer if you use a newer.. should keep you safe from such stuff.

actially i dont think this is a *sad* story, ive heard that many have access to the *taric* account and asking ppl for stuff and then transfer them to another char, i saw taric without armor and stuff 1-2 months ago, he said the same thing.

so i only warning u, do as ever u like.

I can only warn anyone considering it do not give this guy anything. He played the same scam on my guild. First time, we all pitched in to help him. Second time we all got suspicious and he left.

When "Taric" did this to us, it was his friend who stole his stuff using his Pword......twice. Now its someone at a data party. I hope sincerely that GOA manage to ban this arsehole.

Taric is a scammer. Please remember this.

Banned for what? To start with theres no evidence either way, he might be a scammer using this excuse. He might be a genuine pity case. Theres no evidence to prove it either way.

And with no evidence GOA can't ban him. Besides, he's already stated he's able to RvR, etc again so is there really any need to continue replying to this post?

It might sound kinda pitty but when i finally took my chanse to ask someone here to help me i was acused of lying and beeing a theif.
Its depressing that you can charge me with that when you dont got any proof, i got IRL friends who can come to this forum and tell you what happened i can take screens from my acc, i got people ingame who can tell about me wandering around in Jordheim asking if anyone could spare me some money\armor or a sword because my acc got f**ked with on TG03.

Im thanking those who trusted me and gave their support to me.
I understand that it can be hard to trust me but i will thank those who did.
