Not only does it give them something fun and involving to do if they are too sick to be able to work or go out of the house much, but the immersive fantasy environment helps take their mind off their very real problems while the multiplayer element lets them participate in a community of friends where it might not otherwise be possible.

Not a very smart thing to joke about, in my opinion.
