A quick question please

A completely hypothetical question, would appreciate any answers.


Situation: a lvl 40-45 shammy is grpless is df, flags for looking for a grp. A few minutes later gets an invite from a group of 4 lvl 50 characters, they say they are going to farm diamond seals, and ask if the shammy would like to come along, so ofcourse, the shammy takes the invite.

an hour or so of killing big nasties in df passes and one of the grp members has to leave for a while and the rest go back to the farming.

After a while, end of 'hunt' comes and the shammy in question asks how many seals has been notched up, only to be informed that, as he is not lvl 50, the exp and loot is enough for him, and he will not be recieving any seals.

is this common practice in the land of midgard? if the shammy had been lets say lvl 49, would he then deserve a split?


imo if a person is taken into a grp to perform a certain 'job' and he performs that job well, he should recieve an equal share of what comes from the time in that group, regardless of lvl.

I've seen this kind of thing. Some level 50s argue you are getting xp so should put up and shut up however what they forget is that they wouldn't be able to farm so efficiently without the support peeps along. Sometimes if they are powerlevelling someone I could *possibly* understand the reasoning but thats the only case. At 45 you are close to the skills a lvl50 would have.

Its sometimes a good idea to check in advance what how a group is working I guess.

Have to say though, I wouldn't run a group like that. Everyone gets a share, I don't care if they are level 30 or 50.

depends, if i do sealgroups and a lowbie wants to join (or non-50 if that sounds better) he can get a spot considering he adds value to the group and doesn't get the seals.

However, i allways tell them before we start, so there can be no misunderstandings.

join a sealgroup at 50 = get seals, join it under 50 = get exp

the shammy in the grp is the only grp healer and the only grp buffer.

They should of said when you joined that you would get no loot, poor form on their part to leave it til after the hunt was over. To be honest being in a group with 3 lvl 50's should have been very nice XP so I would just let is slide this one time, on future hunts maybe ask first

well, the grp tank was kinda (for want of a better word) 'uber' he was tanking pretty much any mob we came across, sometimes 2 at a time, with very little need for a heal (mobs being nightmares and co)

SM in the grp dropped em pretty fast with pbaoe. it was right and fast, good exp, i give em that much

no i think its completely out of order you didnt get anything, either they should tell you at the start or you should hint when you join " how are we splitting" etc if they so no seals for you, id leave or stay depending on how desperate i was to get to 50.

your level is perfect for DF itamzzz bought with diamond seals even if they gave u 22 it would be enough for a new pair or shoes or whatever

I'm not a great fan of giving seals to people who are clearly benefitting from great xp, often 10x faster than the average malmo crap, but I'll always tell them first that seals are for level 50's, xp is for non-50s...if they agree to that its fine, if not fair enough, but they can't join If I was the lowbie I'd be more than grateful for the xp, beats anything else going.

Yes its very comon to do DF-Farmin/Xp like that.

50 -> Seals/cash/loot
<50 -> XP/cash/loot

Never seen any1 not accepting that.

As has already been said, they should have set out drop rules at the start of the hunt.

I have been on a hunt and been told when it finished that all seals were to be handed over.

Left a sour taste in my mouth for sure

and as soon as i found out, i said adios, /disbanded and suicided, then joined a guild grp at trollheim and got even better exp

End of the day your time for Dimond seal farming will come, i would of been chuffed i was in a group with 4 lvl50's who probably only wanted you for end regain.

You probably could of gone semi afk during the entire time not exactly hard work for free xp and cash.

would kinda defeat the whole purpose of 'having fun' imo. i dont wanna just play to get to 50 ASAP (altho it would be nice )

First bloody time I ever heard of anything like this. If you get invited into a group and serve some sort of purpose, be it entertainment or whacking stuff or just plain standing around looking foolish (just look at my sm!) then you get loot. None of this I iz 50, ergo I iz leet crap.

Well they r blue/green cons....

If it werent for the lvl50s...that "lowbee" would in a balanced group at his own lvl, most likely fight mobs that DONT drop diamonds.
So if I was beeing PLed by some lvl50s in my guild I respect them ONLY beeing in DF coz of the cash. Me? Im there for XP mainly and accept their neeed for Dias. I will be able to get my own Dias when I realize that my epic armor suxx and need SCed stuff (@lvl50).

I know Our guild runs a Under L50 get a half share of diamond seals , but this was introduced to get more guild diamond hunts going as we are not a large guild...

But that is for the guild only, infilicting it on non Guild member is a no no.

If you were told up front fair enough, but to tell you after that is just plain rude...

Being L50 does not give you the right to run rough shod over non L50s, Idiots like that need to be named and shame..

Told before hand is ok but if not then they just idiots..

i have never, and never will be PLed in any game mate , i was in a grp before/ i was in a grp beforehand killing the same mobs (yes at a slower pace), but everything was split straight done the middle.



thanks everyone for taking time to 'clarify' the subject tho, i will take more care in finding out how future grps plan on splits before we get into the thick of it.

Same, if i hunt for seals and someone ask's to join, i tell him (usually a support char) that he gets the xp and i get the seals, why else would i be there?

Theres no higher and lower tier of ppl in a grp , if your in the grp you are compensating, thats why its called a group. Next they will be sharing them out according to who did most damage .. pah, if someones gonna be treated like a lesser citizen then at least have the courtesy to tell them in advance.

Quite frankly Id kick the people who agree with this kinda crap outta the realm and into one that suits them more, and it doesnt surprise me to see the names of some of the people who agree with this sort of behaviour in this thread.

Too much elitist crap goes on...

All I can say is ask in advance, but its rare in my experience to come up against this kind of thing. Ive never been in this situation thankfully, as most people are fair about such things, but ask in advance just incase....

Yeah sure....im elitist because I say that lvl50s that go to DF hunting diamond seals...and diamond seals ONLY, but at the same time giving some "lowbees" (read: ppl NOT lvl50) very good XP while the lvl50s get seals...that makes sence. My point is...we have diferent goals, beeing it cash or xp. But ofcoz, atleast agree to this in advance....

Yeah and kicking ppl out of the realm coz NOT sharing ur view....now thats some realy smart BS u have come up with mate

It's nothing to do with being uber an unreasonable person...most times a diamond seal group can funtion perfectly fine without the sub level 50s, for instance I sometimes farm them with my mate snoz who's got his own buffbot therefore we have no need/obligation to take anyone else in the group but we will do so they can get a bit of xp if we can get the seals? what is wrong with this?? I fail to see why just as you aren't level 50 you are are somehow entitled to leech from a level 50 group and get an equal share of diamonds.
