A quick Audio Question

Firstly merry christmas everybody. Right now thats out of the way i can get down to buisness. I got the Creative FPS1600 speaker set for christmas, fucking good. But i can only get two of the 4 little speakers to work, by switching the input and output round i cang et the front or back to work. But how do i get all 4 working, im sure my soundcard is good enough and can support it, but is there something i need to do? how can i check to see if it does infact support it?

go to sound options in the control panel, and somewhere in there it lets you select the speaker set up. it's prob on desktop speakers" or "headphones". change it to quadraphonic, or 5 speaker, or whichever best matches your sound setup

ive done that, and its on '4 speakers' but still no luck. Might it be my sound card thats the Problem?

What sound card and OS have you got there, fella?

There's a step-by-step troubleshooting guide right here on the Creative website. Might be helpful.

Ensure that the rear speakers are connected to the Sound card's Rear Out connector.
Ensure that the source being played (CD Audio, Line In, TAD, Auxiliary or Microphone) is enabled in Creative Mixer's Play Control view.

thanks, but i already tried that. Im on Windows 98 and the sound card is a pretty obscure PCI288-Q3D II(NX) PCI audio, i have a packard bell PC, i think the card is made by Aztech labs, if that helps.

Here's the detailed specs of your sound card which shows that it does support 4 speaker output, so no probs there.

Have you run through the Creative troubleshooter?

You might also want to try to get hold of the latest drivers for the card and the speaker software.

wow, thanks alot. Thats a huge relief, becuase i honestly thought it was a problem with the card. Ive just downloaded the latest patch for the card, so i'll try the speakers itself. Thanks again someguy, i really appreciate this.

yeah, i think im going to need some more help too, i got the drivers for the soundcard, but there are no drivers for the actual hardware. I really dont know what to do next, the speakers are definately working, becuase i can hear a buzzing if i turn the volume up really high, so its the not the speakers, its not the soundcard, what the hell could it be?!

You said you'd already tried this, but it sounds as though you don't have the Creative 'Audio HQ' software installed! You little liar!

You prolly got a CD with your speakers. Run it and install the Audio HQ software. Basically follow whatever instructions you got with yer speakers.

well i didn't get a CD with it, nor an intruction manual. And i dont think there was one, i checked the 'in this package' list on the side, and there wasn't a CD or any kind of software listed on it. I really appreciate all your help btw, and appreciate that its all volentary, but keep working away, and we will get sound from those bastards....

Hmmm... I'm bailing out! I've no experience of these fanceh speakers, so I'd suggest contacting Creative tech support tomorrow.

I'd get in touch with the speaker manufacturers and get them to mail you the CD.

Audio HQ comes with Liveware, so you could try downloading that from the Creative webby...

Mine didnt work untill I used win2k.

The only thing that did work was the demo sounds cd it came with. Upgrading to 2k made winamp and others use the 4 speakers.
