A nice little visit to the battleground...

Horsie... Warp... Die... *repeat*

Guess a lvl 20 clothwearer shouldn't be in the frontiers. A leaf falling from a tree means at least 350 dmg and a trip back to bindpoint... Darn those archers are way overpowered, nerf! :) After a couple rides I finally got hang of it (hide behind big trolls) and managed to nuke a few albs...

Question: Don't you get any realmpoints at all in the battlegrounds?

Yes you do. But, I think that you have to be the one that kills the person to get rp's. Or possibly be the one that does the most damage. I think that the rp's are supposed to be divided among the killers, but since everyone is worth 1 rp, there is not much to divide, so the one that does the most damage, or gets the killing blow (not sure about that), gets the rp. :)

Oh how i love the BattleGrounds, im actually considering halting my char here and not lvling him to proper RvR standard.
I apologies as I was probably one of the sources of the alb arrows that didnt seem to come from anywhere and did way too much damage.

RealmPoints are earnt in eaxctly the same way as xp, as long as u take part in killing it, u get rps. The more people it took to kill the enemy, the more the rps divide by and the tougher the enemy the more rps awarded. Also you will get more than 1rp as there is also the added bonus's, ie did u solo the enemy, what did they con to you etc. For one unlucky middies troll i got 23rps as he conned orange to me and I killed him all on me own:). At least i think thats how it works...

Oh and I was playing on Murd (lvl24-29) and got 192rps in the 2hours of play.

One final, final thing. Can i thank all the middies who gave us one hell of a fight throughout the night and keeping tension at a maximum, just a shame the hibs could only shoot the odd arrow at someones back. :D :D

Battlegrounds, ya gotta love it!

I've been sneaking off on relic raids and the like since I was 19th lvl (My theory is it takes time to kill me while useful people can do their business) but obviously I was just making up the numbers.

So I arrive in BG at 25th lvl (Doh! Why did I lvl at the weekend!) with 43RP and no idea how to play.

So first of all we charge the keep and die.
Then We charge the keep and die.
Then We dont charge the keep, I turn up and pull a train of Guards while everyone is supposed to be waiting for reinforcements (Look these are SUPPOSED to be training grounds and I did learn my lesson <slaps wrist>)
Then We charge the keep, Dont die, but run out of mana and cant keep up with the guard pops.

Were still having fun here but its getting late, many people have gone home and even we can work out that we cant charge the keep.

So we dont :)

We go on on patrol, like we think were in Vietnam or something;) and we go hunting.

Well the personal highlight of the evening was when 5 or 6 of us hide behind a tree and our infi goes forward. He meets a Celt near the Hib bridge and is uncoverd!

SHOCK!

He has to run away but the celt and his mate the elf chase him.

Now I dont know what they feed them in hib land but this celt dude changes into Bullwinkle the Moose and Im just pissing my pants for him to catch up with our Infi.

Now he comes round the tree and finds us Albs playing Sardines.
Well he promptly drops a steaming pile of dung and dies as he gets chopped, shocked and burnt to death.

Then we finish off the Elf whose thinking "Its a trap!" in his best Admiral Ackbar impression and do a runner to find another ambush point.

<sigh>

This game actually has some life in it for me now.

Now I'd love to post everyones names who were with us, but Im a bit dim and cant remember anyone:(

So If you were there by the river when Mooseboy fell or If your one of the hundreds with similiar stories from Wednesday night post below.

Well tonight in the Battlegrounds it was like in the beta when 20-30 Alb's and about the same Mid's going back and forwad to kill and get killed

There is only one thing that did make me wonder, did the Alb's start with the keeps?
I was in BG no later than 20 min after the server was up and there was Alb flags on it. We did spend about 10-20 min banging on the door and hardly did a dent on them.

Other than that the BG was the best DAoC time I'v hade in about 4 month's. cya in there again tonight.

Keeps

Lotta alb alts on BG so they know what they're doing with keeps now (I should damn hope!).

It's nice that the genuinely new players have somewhere to go and play but I wouldn't suggest halting your character for too long. The idea is to whet your appetite and hone your skills for when it -really- matters (real frontiers, real keeps, real darkness falls! -grin- )

Also the little taster of RP that the previous poster mentioned is just that. A taster! It will take you less than 10 seconds in RvR to get that kind of RPage if you have an RvR compatable character, or a good group, so don't be too overwhelmed. It's nice, it sounds like lots of fun, but it's definately a sample of the delights to come. More importantly I don't -think- you get BP (do you?) which your guilds need to keep the maintenance going on your keep :D

Hope you all have lots of fun, I'm too old now and my only real alt is an armsman (moooo, can we say RP Cow) so I won't be bothering.

It realy was great and this way of fighting was something most of us never had the chance to play. We did had some problems cordinating with each other and we did lost some fights out there. Be sure tho that we will be more active in the next days. Yesterday was something like a playground for us!

See you in the Battlefields!

You're right Jadow, one doesn't get any Bounty Points on the Battlefields.
And you're right again, Battlefields are an appetizer only, I read on another thread that SFXman got 850 RPs last night, which should bring him pretty close to R1L9 which is the "back to the exp treadmill" ticket.

Your second point though, why not bother using your tank char in the battelfields? It's fun, and I play a tank myself. We had a big fight with about 15 Hibs, 20 Albs and some Mids and I was going for an Alb caster when an armsman in full plate cut me down. Of the three times I died last night two were due to armsmen and one to a warrior, although they had support by casters and healers. Tanks have their problems but then again I killed several enemies and got 100 RPS in 90 minutes too. Especially the first kill, when our two man combo met four middies, brought me 27 RP for cutting down Berserkar (name says all about the class I guess) before the middies finished us two. I recommend you bother and use your armsman alt, you'll see it's not that bad.
Have fun!

Well, I was running around with my warrior last night.
I killed both casters and tanks alike :)
Died once when all around me retreated, I got messed and then got nuked to oblivion :)

Well if he only has 850rps then he is way off RR2, as you need about 7500rps for the second Realm Rank

Hehe I had fun.

Best bit was watching sane practical characters completely losing it and frothing at the mouth.

Following casters into battle (that can't be right...)
Joining casters in a mob melee (now I know that aint right!)

It was good to let out that RvR frustration.
<Contented sigh>

Now to level my alt :)

BG are ace. The best thing in daoc ever imo. Shame you only have a limit (r1l9) then u'll get kicked out. I got about 2000ish rp last night so now im up to about 3300rp. I have to slow down or ill get kickedout soon :/. Anyway BG rock´s and the Albs owned the mids + hibs on BG 31-35 :)

Owned is not really Right considering we nearly Bashed manually the first door in... and it takes ages we held off the Albs the few hibs and the NPC guards for ages..

Then bashing the door got boring and we ran around alot :)

No one owned anyone flamin, one second the albs were mashing us the next we were mashing the albs and all the time small groups of hibs roamed around :)

was great fun :)

I think the doors auto heal/repair unless the albs were silly enought to repair the door..

Any alb repair the door or do they auto repair (which if they do is a real Pain for everyone)
If they do auto repair do they is they have been broken or only if they are just damaged.

All doors auto repair, they will obviously repair quicker depending on thier lvl, but never quick enough to stop you if you are bashing on the door.

no we repaired them just click on them and type /repair doesnt cost anything.

And we owned ya mids :p we were almost inside your PK :m00:

I hope your poor smite-clerics learned their lessons yesterday, Albion :p

And Flamin, can't say I felt "owned" by the albs - be glad that you had the keep to hide in ;)

Thanks Ardwan, of course you're right. I intended to say that at this pace he'll reach the limit pretty quickly, but reading my sentence again it gives another message.
Thanks for pointing out my mistake Ardwan, sorry for the confusion guys.
I think it takes only about 10 good nights to play yourself out of the BGs again.

I was in the 20-24 Battleground - it was total chaos most of the time but lots of fun!

Archers really seemed to rule the place no matter what realm they were, Tanks were doing fine and the rp cows were robed casters.

Pesky little midgard archers always try to hide in the water. Maybe lurikeen did that too, but i havent seen one doing it actually :)

It is 5200 ish before you can no longer enter BG's

I like the BG's as it is quick to get back (binding in hug and horseing it back) and battles are fluid one moment mis winning next albs

and flamin most of the Mid force had left but the time you did the big PK camp .
and you were driven off :) then i logged as most of mids had gone and went to play in BG 24-29 with an alt , and it was dead just one group of hibs and one group of mids having running battles all over BG :)
and sorry to the 4 albs hiding behind trees looking at out PK, as we came from the middle keep back to our OK and ambushed your ambush :)

all in all BGs are great , and luckyly you albs are not worth much rps so I will be in BG 30-35 for a while yet :)

Tonight will be the night in Murd, as long as we albs can get enough organisation to all run in the right direction at the same time then we can easily take the keep, but it isnt easy especially when you have a lot of newbies who just want to go out and see a middie troll...
Ah well, got me bow all ready now, you stand no chance against our might scouts...

I love it feels so good to not have to reach 45+ to have fair fights.

Really nice way to learn your char too, sending your pet into the middle of 30 albs was just a waste of mana did I learn

Have some nice memories too one was the beginning when I soloed a yellow sorcerer with pet (fear the spiritmaster mezz) was a nice fight although his pokes with staff was not enough to interupt my throwing and he went down.

Other nice was seeing a orange infiltrator and nuking him to death or at once stage close to our PK i get shot at by a archer sent my pet after him dodge behind a hill so he can't shoot his second shot, jumps up again and nukes him down. shaking from the thrill i type /luagh /luagh /laugh you resist the effect message looks up and bang a polearm right through my chest

Well one of the best parts is there aren't many mezzez out there I got AE mezzed once or twice on the whole evening. Think we threw some more but we got thanes to make up for that ;)

Well very fun in the BG I ruled it at around 4 AM to 5 AM very nice fights then albs

All I know is that I had a really blast last night. I died a few times, I killed a few times.
It certainly taught me a lot about all those skills I never used in PvE.
