yesterday 14.00 pm Tiga and me (aprill) are farming in DF.Aubout 16.00 pm we gonna logd.About 19.00pm i get a message from Tiga @msn ,she can't log in in Daoc,also not @her sub log in ,we tink her account is hacked and mail all the info to Goa.
About 00.00 am i playing whit Vandamme and craft a little bit in my house ,when i see Tiga logd in...,i send a message to the real Tiga @msn and ask her :hey you are online @Daoc? and she said :nope.So the hacker was online!!!
Whit help from some peeps we gonna look Tiga chars,and i find her in CS Tiga is naked and do transfers whit KNIVEN(the hacker)!!!Kniven shows and look to the weapons he stoled from Tiga ,but he saw me and logd.
A couple of minutes later he logd back on whit Snoepie where other peeps him saw do a transfer whit TAUDO (alt from kniven we tink).He logd fast back.
a coupkle of minutes later he logd back on @KNIVEN and gonna port stealth to Emain,where Hissen take screenshots from him ,that he all the stuff from Tiga/Snoepie/Astalis dropped all over Emain!!!

we post all this stuff to goa and i hope she gonna get this bastard fast!!!

Yesterday I took a lot of abuse from people about this bullshit hacking. After talking today with April aka Vandamme, he has asked me to post proof that I had nothing to do with it. So I have done just that. Here is a screen shot of the chat which happened as my horse arrived at CS on the way to BG1. Hope that M****** F***** Taudo gets banned for causing me this much agro.

how can someone actually get your password/hack goa servers? i mean can it be doen short of snekaing into yoru house and stealing PW or sneaking into goa hq and fiddlign servers? every case of daoc acct hacking iv seen has been ppl beign lax with their passwords, im not saying it is the case here but I just fail to see how it can actually be anything else apart from stupidity on account holders part (giving out Pw, leaving them in big neon letters on their house, in a text file on unprotected pc etc..) tbh

Might be totally irrelevant, but...

Was talking to the real Kniven about 1 week ago (on his necro Kaabard) and he told me that his main account (with Kniven on it) had been hacked.

It was definately was the real Kniven, cos we were talking about the "good old days" just after game release when his pally (Ormpally) and my cleric (pbaz) grouped at gobbos. An imposter wouldn't have known that kind of detail.

Might we have someone robbing multiple accounts here?

Definately Rightnow this, IMO.

(As I say - all of this is directly from the person that I know is the "real" Kniven. If he was lying to me in preparation for this scam then he's a criminal mastermind of the highest order! But I kinda think there may be more to this than the real Kniven hacking/robbing accounts. And I'd hate to see Kniven, the person, getting a bad rep for someone else's actions)

Cyber cafes are nororiously insecure, there are two ways he could of easily got your password without hacking into GOA.

1) you logged onto DAOC in a Cyber cafe to play and a keylogger caught your details.

or,

2) Your DAOC account is registered to a hotmail/yahoo etc free web mail accout. Or you accessed your email account from a cybercafe or other compromised machine (friend/work/etc). Again a keylogger was on the compromised machine or he was sniffing the packets to the server and recording them.

I would go with 2, in that you accessed your email account from a cyber cafe or used a hotmail/yahoo/etc one to which Asatlis/tiga/etc is subscribed.

Requiel and GOA will do there job and find out what really happened, more likely suspending kniven account until it they can find out what is happening with it. It may take time but Req will be looking into it.

I am sorry for what happened to you...real sad that some people find joy in frigging up others. I hope they catch the guy, ban him and send round the heavies to cut his balls off and mail them to you as a paperweight to use by your pc. Also, on another note...if Kniven is innocent, why has he not been on here to defend himself??. Maybe he doesnt read the forums??. Maybe somebody who knows him irl, or well enough ingame could direct him here for his account of what happened. After all, there are always 2 sides to a story.

Aye - totally believe your story. I just wanted to let you know that the character Kniven might not be under the control of its real owner (and it would be a shame to slander the real owner since, in my experience, he's a very nice guy).

As Heath said I'd love to hear the real owner of Kniven tell us what the situation with his account is. Dunno if he's registered here. As I said, I've seen him playing his necro (Kaabard) in Emain lately - if anyone sees him around, please give him a heads-up about this thread so he can at least defend himself.

1) You gave someone else your acc details, maybe a m8, who you thought you could trust. Or you accessed your acc on someone elses PC who managed to somehow log your pass.
2) You used hotmail, major mistake and its been said so many times on here.
3) You dont use a firewall, but use things like IRC where any 5 year old can get your IP, and hack your machine.
4) You dont use anti-virus or a spyware tool to keep your machine free of malicious software.
5) Your hotmail password is so blatently obvious your cat could guess it.
6) You play at a net cafe, nuff said.

If you fall into any of the above, then you only have yourself to blame, sorry to be so harsh, but its all avoidable, costs nothing and saves you a heartache. The first one I think is the most common, I know players with access to over 30 accounts, most of them are trustworthy, but youd be surprised what people can be like if you fall out with them.

Get your pass, print it, put it somewhere REALLY safe, and never share it.

As soon as you were aware of the potential hack, you should have logged into your subs and created a new password, perhaps at least some of this could been avoided.

tbh he shoulden blame him self if he falls into those cases, ofc yes if he has lended the acc to some one he trusted.

but he shoulden blame himself for maybe having hes pass lying on the desktop or for not having a firewall or anti virus. cause you cant just say that well sry, you com wasnt safe enough so its your own fault cause it still shoulden come down to that, if you have secured it enough, its still illegal to hack people, it would be like, if you have a car and a garage, but the car wasnt in the garage and got stolen, well its your own fault, cause you didn have it secure enough in your garage. its still illegal

I saw you online when it occured, but I didn't think much of it, as you often get bored of playing the same char after an hour or so. So sad for you. But .. erhm ... it DID happen before, so maybe U should have taken some precausions?

I see your point Blitz m8, however, unlike a car, you dont turn off a firewall or anti-virus to go to the shops, once installed it stays. You remove your car from the garage to use it though. I cant say it enough on these forums, installing this software and taking a few minor precautions costs nothing, is so simple, and saves a lot of hastle in the long run. Heck even XPSP2 has a semi decant FW built in.


If i lived in a place renowned for car break ins, I would install and use an alarm, park it safely, preferably in a garage, remove items from view that might be tempting and make sure i lock the damn thing. On my PC, i make sure internet access is locked, and alarmed (pops up to warn me of attempted hacks), use anti-virus and spyware to watch over it.

Out of this, my anti-virus was free (AVG), my spyware tool was (Adaware SE), my firewall wasnt free but they also do a cut down version (Zone Alarm), it all took minutes to install, and even the most basic user can do it.

My passwords are stored in an encrypted file on my HD, and on a business type card in my wallet as one long string with some random ones beginning and end, but no user names, so its highly unlikely someone could ever use them. So far (touch wood) I have had no problems.
